The following story contains imaginery some may consider of disturbing nature. You've been warned.
A young woman is brought into the E.R. "Who is this?", the doctor second in chief, Ray Rosiani, rushes by.
"Tina Malowsky, 23, car accident. Squished torso, almost lost her on the way here. A wonder she's still alive" "Bring her over Room 2 I take over from here"
Staff gathered inside room 2, including the doctor in chief. "Vital signs are unstable, we're losing her!" "Her lungs are severly damaged, she's bleeding internally...", right at this moment the cardiometer started a long beep.
The second in chief looked up, "We could-" "No, Ray. Not the prototype!" "...this is the only chance to save her!" "We'll get sued the shit out of us!"
Another second passed, "I can't let her die! I will take full responsibility!" Angered by his second in command the chief explaimed, "Fine! Get sued to hell! If this has ANY negative consequences for our hospital you will never find another job as a doctor again!" "Fine with that.", the second in command grabbed the bonesaw and starts to cut through the base of the woman's neck and the staff members turned away from it.
"He's ACTUALLY doing it!", the doctor in chief complained angrily, holding his hand to his head... "forget it, everyone outta here!" the doctor in chief commaned the staff to leave the room as the second in chief connects Tina's head on a flat box-shaped machine.
"Please work, please work, please work..."
After a moment Tina started to breathe and Ray was delighted...
---
A few days passed and Tina wakes up to pain, "hmmm. ou... ou..."
She opens her eyes and sees the white walls of her hospital room. "Where am I, my whole body hurts!" The doctor second in chief steps into her room. "Hello, Miss Malowsky."
"My whole body hurts, doctor, what happened?", Ray starts to smirk as she asks this question. "Well, you appear to have had a horrible car accident causing your torso to be squished and several organs severely damaged in the process. We had no other choice to but to put you on this prototype I designed."
"Put me on-?", only now she realises her predicament as she looks down to find herself to be on a elongated black box; her body no where in sight and she let's out a scream, "AHHHH WHERE THE HELL IS MY BODY"
The doc looks troubled upon her reaction, "Miss, please calm down, this was the only way we could have saved your life."
"... So... I'm nothing but a head now?", Tina asks in a mixture of shock and curiosity, "guess still better than dead, but still..."
"Basically yes, this box contains a prototype of mechanical body functions, it contains artifical lungs, stomach, liver etc. etc. Basically this is your body now. You may find yourself sometimes a little short on breath when talking because you're lungs are smaller now, but you should be able to live on."
"... I think I will need a while to take this in..." Tina says confused. "I will make my leave and will check on you later, Miss."
