From Chapter 14 The Murder Museum.

"The blonde in her bun began to flicker, streaks of electric purple flashing at the roots. Hanavari was coming.

She tensed, coiling her muscles to lunge, to take them both down just as she had the others—

She was too late.

The second agent, Cole, had moved with a speed that wasn't human. He wasn't reaching for a gun.

He was already behind her chair. He pressed a small, black, two-pronged rod—a Concord "Stasis Rod"—to the base of her neck.

An unimaginable cold—not pain, but a total cessation of function—shot through her nervous system.

She froze.

Her body was locked, a statue in a cream-colored dress.

She was still conscious, her mind screaming, but her muscles were completely unresponsive. The transformation was frozen, mid-shift.

She was trapped, her eyes locked in a permanent, terrified, half-violet, half-blue stare.

She couldn't move. She couldn't speak. She couldn't transform. She couldn't even think as Hanavari.

The "Stasis Rod" had severed the link. She was just... Hannah."
