Athene leans against a flickering lamppost that seems to glitch between two realities: the grit of a graffiti-covered London brick wall and the luminescent moss of an ancient Arcadian oak.

She smooths her sleek, velvet-black dress, her hair falling like a curtain of midnight with that subtle indigo sheen catching the erratic light.

Her emerald green eyes—piercing and impossibly bright—flash with a mixture of amusement and impatience. A faint, silvery-black mist curls around her manicured fingers like smoke from a snuffed candle.

"Okay, Amethyst, focus. I’m literally only going to explain this once, and if you zone out, something with claws is going to turn you into a chew toy."

She throws a smirk that is pure Valley Girl disdain, but the shadow stretching out from her heels isn't human—it’s the heavy, muscular silhouette of a stalking panther.

"You're asking about the Changing Breeds. The Fera. Look, I know you can do the whole shape-changing thing too because of your... family drama," she waves a hand dismissively, acknowledging the Greek god lineage without lingering . "But these guys? They aren't divine, sweetie. They’re Gaia’s little eco-warriors on steroids. Totally different aesthetic."

1. The Vibe Check: Who They Are

"First rule: Don't call them all 'Werewolves.' That is so insulting to the rest of us. They are Shifters. While we run on Glamour and dreams, they run on Gnosis (spirit juice) and Rage (literally, pure anger issues).

2. The Lineup (The Breeds)

"There are a ton of them, but let’s focus on the ones that matter. Or at least, the ones you'll see before you die."

The Garou (Werewolves) "The basic bros of the spirit world. Think: high school jocks with fangs. They travel in packs, they have serious anger management issues, and they are obsessed with hierarchy."

The Bastet (Werecats) Athene fluffs her hair, a smug, knowing smile playing on her lips. Her green eyes glow with predatory intensity. "Obviously, the superior species. We—uh, they—work alone. We hold the secrets. We are the eyes of Gaia."

The Corax (Werelavens) "The gossips. Imagine a bird that drinks too much espresso and steals shiny things. They are Gaia’s messengers."

The Ratkin (Wererats) She wrinkles her nose, a perfect picture of distaste. "Ugh. Gross. They live in the sewers, they eat trash, and they are majorly into plagues. They’re the 'population control' squad."

The Others "There are bear-people (Gurahl—healers, mostly napping), lizard-people (Mokolé—living dinosaurs, basically), and spider-people (Ananasi). The spiders are actually kinda cool? Very calculated. But super creepy."

3. The Magic: Gifts & The Umbra

"So, they don't use Cantrips or Arts like we do. They use Gifts."

Athene’s Advice

She pushes off the wall, the silver-black mist swirling around her fingers solidifying for a second into the shape of claws before dissipating.

"Here is the bottom line, Amethyst: Respect the territory. We deal with Dreams; they deal with Flesh and Spirit. If you cross a Shifter, don't try to out-fight them. Out-smart them."

She pauses, her grin widening into something sharp and dangerous.

"Except for the Cats... don't bother trying to out-smart us. You'll lose."

She winks, turning to walk into the shadows, her form seemingly blurring into the darkness of the alley as the Arcadian mist swallows her heels.

"Come on. I’m craving sushi, and I know a place where the chef owes me a favor."
