Act II: The Manifestation
(Music: Verse 1 - "Like any uncharted territory...")
As Hanavari's ritual continues, the air above Milly begins to shimmer and distort. The smell of ozone is suddenly overwhelmed by something new: a faint, coppery, sulfuric scent that catches in the back of the throat. The air in the theater turns noticeably cold.
A dark, oily, shadow-like substance (The Anathema) is visibly pulled from Milly's body. The audience gasps. This is not a projection. It is not smoke and mirrors. The shadow is three-dimensional, churning in the air with a wet, unstable quality.
The gasp is collective, a shared puncture of disbelief. This is clearly not a simple prop or lighting trick. Milly's body arches slightly off the slab, a silent, performative gasp, as the shadow coalesces in the air above her.
The Anathema seems to observe Milly, the "uncharted territory" on the slab.
