The air in the Blockhouse’s training ring smelled of canvas, old sweat, and the ozone tang of magic—my favourite perfume. My magic was permeating the ring, conversations sounding like the audit of a company.
I circled Barwell. He was a mountain of a man, truly. A beard like a thicket of wire and shoulders that could carry a small car. Nightshade kept him around for brute force, for intimidation. He was a blunt instrument.
But I didn't deal in blunt instruments. I dealt in precision.
"Stop," I commanded, my voice echoing off the stone walls. I walked up to him, looking up—way up—into his face. I tapped a manicured finger against his granite chest. "You are treating this match like a brawl, Barwell. It is not a brawl. It is a transaction."
I stepped back, my eyes narrowing, switching from wrestler to forensic accountant. I saw his stance not as a physical posture, but as a balance sheet.
"Right now, you are over-leveraged on strength and bankrupt on flow," I told him, pacing the canvas in my wrestling boots. "You are trying to crush the opponent. That is inefficient. You spend energy to break them. I want you to spend their hope to fuel us."
I gestured for him to get into a grapple stance. "Listen to me. In a mixed tag match, we are a system. You are the 'Fixed Asset'—the immovable object, the anchor. I am the 'Liquid Asset'—the speed, the striker, the one who moves the capital."
I grinned, the Hanavari persona flaring up, violet light flickering at the roots of my blonde hair. "We are going to work on a maneuver. I call it the 'Hostile Takeover.' You are going to catch them. You are going to hold them. You are not going to slam them. You are going to squeeze the air, the fight, and the will out of them. You are going to turn them into a battery."
I slapped his shoulder, hard. "And once they are drained? Once they are begging for release? That is when you tag me in. That is when I cash out."
I stepped back, raising my hands. "Again. And this time, Barwell... try to look like you're enjoying their despair. It adds to the market value. Grapple!"
The air in the training room grew thick and heavy. The smell of old canvas faded, replaced by the sharp, electric scent of ozone and rising human heat.
"Again," I commanded, my voice a low, breathless rasp.
We were locked up in the center of the ring. Barwell was a wall of muscle, sweat glistening on his skin above the beard that scratched against my shoulder. He had me in a waist lock, his hulking forearms bracketing my ribs like iron bands. In a normal match, he would be preparing to throw me.
But this wasn't a normal match.
"You're still thinking like a brawler, Barwell," I whispered, leaning back into him, letting my head rest against his chest. I could feel the thundering of his heart through the back of my wrestling singlet. "You're trying to overpower me. I don't want you to break me. I want you to own the space I occupy."
I reached back, my hands sliding over his triceps, feeling the tension in the corded muscle. My fingers, manicured and dangerous, dug in.
"Don't push," I purred, the violet light flaring brighter. "Absorb. Feel the resistance in my hips? That’s energy. That’s capital. Take it."
He growled, a low, vibrating rumble that I felt in my very core. He shifted his stance, widening his base. Instead of squeezing to crush, he settled. He pulled me tighter against him, eliminating the daylight between our bodies until we were a single, fused entity of sweat and tension. The hard ridge of his erection pressed against my lower back, a hidden asset finally revealing itself.
The change was immediate. It wasn't just a hold anymore; it was an embrace of absolute, suffocating control.
"Better," I gasped, the air leaving my lungs not from force, but from the sheer, magnetic pull of his presence.
I closed my eyes, activating my Financial Sorcery. I audited his aura. It had shifted from a jagged, red spike of aggression to a deep, heavy, gravitational pull. He was becoming the black hole I needed him to be.
"Now," I murmured, tilting my head back so I was looking up at him, our faces inches apart. The heat radiating off him was intoxicating. "I'm going to struggle. I'm going to try to liquidate this asset. You are going to freeze the account."
I snapped my hips, grinding back against him to break the seal.
He didn't jerk or slam. He simply... expanded. His grip became absolute. He buried his face in the crook of my neck, his hot breath ghosting over my skin, sending a shiver of pure, electric delight down my spine. The friction of his beard, the crushing weight of his arms, the sheer, immovable mass of him—it was overwhelming.
I felt the energy drain out of me—my fight, my movement, my very will to escape—siphoned directly into him. He was drinking it in, his muscles swelling with the stolen power. It was a feedback loop of dominance and submission.
My knees buckled, just a fraction. A soft, unbidden sound escaped my throat—half frustration, half ecstasy.
"Yes," I hissed, my hands finding purchase in his hair, pulling him closer even as he trapped me. "That’s it. Drain the account. Leave nothing."
The air around us crackled. Violet sparks danced across his skin where I touched him. He was glowing now, a faint, dark purple aura bleeding into his edges. He had become the battery.
Then, with a grunt of exertion, he released the tension—not letting go, but transferring it. He spun me out, his massive hand guiding me, and I launched off his frame with explosive, supernatural speed.
I hit the ropes and rebounded, feeling lighter than air, practically vibrating with power. I came to a stop in the center of the ring, chest heaving, skin flushed, eyes blazing violet.
Barwell stood opposite me, panting, looking at his own hands as if he’d never seen them before. The air between us was still charged, a tangible thread of heat connecting us.
I walked up to him, swaying slightly, and placed a hand on his damp chest. "That," I whispered, looking up into his eyes with a predatory, satisfied grin, "is a hostile takeover."
The magenta lightning crackled across my skin. I felt invincible, but raw power is volatile. It needs to be stabilized. It needs a new market strategy.
I looked at Barwell. He was leaning against the turnbuckle, watching me with heavy, hooded eyes. He looked like a statue of Hercules left out in the rain—chiseled, wet, and dangerous.
"The heat," I murmured, pulling at the damp fabric of my singlet. "It’s affecting the exchange rate. Too much insulation."
I stepped closer, invading his personal space until I was looking straight up into his bearded face. I dropped my hands to my sides, leaving myself open.
"We need full transparency," I said, my voice dropping to a command. "Conduct an immediate audit, Barwell. Strip the assets."
Barwell didn't hesitate. His eyes darkened, shifting from confusion to intent. He reached out, his massive hands hooking their thumbs under the straps of my wrestling singlet. He didn't ask; he took. With a slow, deliberate force that made my breath hitch, he peeled the straps down over my shoulders.
The fabric hissed against my sweat-slicked skin as he dragged it down. He shoved the material over my hips, his rough palms grazing my waist, effectively stripping the covering away. I kicked the singlet free, leaving it in a heap on the canvas.
Underneath, I was wearing only a black, high-performance sports bra and matching high-cut briefs. My skin was flushed, glowing faintly with the residual energy of the magic. I felt lighter, faster—nakedly dangerous.
"Efficient," I purred, looking at his work. Then I looked at him. He was still clad in his heavy singlet, the fabric straining against his chest and thighs.
"Now, the transaction must be symmetrical," I commanded, gesturing with a flick of my wrist. "Liquidate your excess inventory."
Barwell complied instantly. He grabbed the straps of his singlet and tore them down. He shoved the material down his powerful legs, stepping out of it to reveal only tight, black wrestling trunks that did nothing to hide the heavy swell of his desire. His body was a landscape of scars and muscle, now fully exposed to the air and my hungry eyes.
"Much better," I murmured, rolling my neck. "Now there’s nothing to block the transaction."
I walked over to the corner where my gym bag lay. I didn't reach inside. I simply held my hand over it, channeling a specific desire. Smoothness. Heat. Antiquity.
A heavy, clay amphora materialized in my grip.
"Greek style," I announced, turning back to him.
Barwell raised a thick eyebrow. "Greco-Roman? No leg holds?"
"In a manner of speaking," I purred, walking toward him. I popped the cork on the amphora. The scent of spiced olive oil and ozone filled the small ring. "But mostly... I mean the oil."
I stepped between his spread legs again. He didn't move, but his breathing hitched as I tipped the jar. The golden oil poured over his broad, naked chest, mixing with the sweat, cascading down his abs and soaking into the waistband of his trunks.
"We need to test the grip strength," I whispered, dropping the jar—which vanished before it hit the canvas—and using both hands to slick the oil over his skin.
The sensation was incredible. My hands glided over the hard ridges of his muscles, the friction reduced to almost zero. He was a wall of slippery, hot marble. I circled his nipples with my oily thumbs, watching his breath catch, watching his abdominal muscles clench in reaction.
"Coat me," I commanded, stepping back and offering my arms.
Barwell wiped his oil-slicked hands together and reached out. His immense palms slid over my shoulders, down my bare arms, coating my skin in the sheen. He ran his hands down my sides, his thumbs digging into the soft skin above my hips, his fingers brushing the edge of my briefs.
We stood there, two glistening figures under the harsh lights, breathing hard, the sexual tension thick enough to choke on.
"The rules of the market have changed," I said, my voice dropping an octave. "Friction is gone. If you want to hold me now, you have to mean it. You have to use leverage. You have to own the hold."
I assumed a classic Greco-Roman stance. "Lock up."
He lunged.
It was like wrestling a landslide. He slammed into me, his bare chest hitting mine with a wet slap that echoed off the walls. The sensation of skin-on-skin, slick with oil, sent a jolt of electricity straight to my groin. He went for a bearhug, trying to crush the breath out of me.
But I was slick.
I spun inside his grip, my oiled skin sliding against his. I felt the heat of his body, the desperate strength in his arms as he tried to clamp down, but I slipped through like water.
"Slippage," I taunted, moving behind him.
He spun around, his backfist whistling past my ear. He grabbed for my neck—a collar tie. His hand slipped off my oiled neck, snapping down to my shoulder. He used the momentum to pull me in, crashing our bodies together again.
This time, he adjusted. He didn't just grab; he hooked. He dug his fingers into the hollow of my back, his skin hot and wet against mine.
"Better," I gasped, my face pressed against his slippery pectoral muscles. The magic flared between us, the violet and red lights refracting through the oil on our skin, making us look like we were wrestling inside a prism.
He drove me back into the corner, his weight pinning me. We were sliding against each other, a frictionless grind that heightened every nerve ending. I could feel every muscle fiber in his chest twitching against my breasts.
"You can't hold onto a liquid asset," I whispered, hooking my leg behind his. I tripped him.
We went down in a tangle of limbs, sliding across the canvas. I ended up on top, but only for a second. He rolled, his massive strength compensating for the lack of grip, and suddenly I was pinned, his forearm pressing down on my chest, his body looming over mine.
He was panting, drops of oil and sweat falling from his beard onto my face. He looked wild, ancient—a titan emerging from the sea.
"I don't need friction," he growled, his voice rough. "I have gravity."
He pressed down, the sheer weight of him keeping me in place where his grip couldn't. It was a suffocating, heavy, glorious pressure.
I smiled up at him. "That," I whispered, reaching up to slide my hands over his slick biceps, "is a solid investment strategy."
I arched my back, creating a micro-pocket of space, and then snapped my hips to the side. With the oil coating our skin, I slid out from under his chest like mercury.
Barwell grunted, scrambling to adjust, but I was already moving. I rolled over his back, my body slick and fast, coating his spine with more of the golden oil as I slid over him.
"Too slow," I teased. "The market moves fast, Barwell."
He roared, spinning on his knees. He swept a massive arm out, but I ducked, shooting in low. I locked my hands around his waist and pressed my cheek against his spine. "Leverage," I hissed.
I drove my weight forward while pulling his hips back. Barwell stumbled, fighting to stay upright. The magic flared between us again, but this time it wasn't a flow; it was a tension. A visible arc of magenta energy stretched between our bodies like a superheated wire.
"Hold it!" I shouted over the crackle of energy. "Don't break the bond! Stretch the margins!"
Barwell dropped to a base, grounding himself. He reached back, his oily hands grabbing my head, pulling me tighter against his back.
The magic screamed. The magenta light intensified, becoming a blinding, solid wall of color around us. The heat was unbearable. The oil on our skin seemed to boil, turning into a mist that smelled of olives and pure power.
I released my grip and slid up his back, wrapping my legs around his waist, my arms around his neck—a backpack sleeper hold. He stood up, carrying me as if I weighed nothing. I clung to him, slick skin on slick skin, my inner thighs squeezing his ribs, the wet friction maddening.
"Don't let go," he growled.
I didn't. I tightened my grip. But Barwell wasn't content to just hold the asset. He wanted to liquidate it.
He threw himself backward.
It was a reckless, massive move. We hit the canvas with a bone-jarring SLAM, the impact driving the air from my lungs. He took the brunt of it, cushioning me with his bulk, but the shockwave sent a jolt of pure electricity through our connected bodies.
We didn't separate. We slid.
The oil eliminated all friction between us and the mat, and we spun in a tangled knot of limbs, rolling until I was beneath him again. But this time, it wasn't a pin. It was a conquest.
Barwell pressed his hips into mine, the weight of him heavy and absolute. The violet and red magic that had been arcing between us collapsed inward, saturating our skin. It felt like being dipped in liquid starlight.
"You're slippery," he murmured, his voice a rough vibration against my collarbone. He shifted, his broad chest sliding against my breasts, the hair-roughened skin acting as an abrasive contrast to the oil, sending shockwaves of sensation straight to my nipples.
"High liquidity," I gasped, my head falling back, exposing my throat to him. "High volatility."
He accepted the offer. He buried his face in my neck, his beard scratching deliciously against the sensitive skin, his lips finding my pulse point. He didn't bite; he sucked, a hard, possessive pressure that drew a moan from deep in my chest.
My hands roamed over his back, feeling the bunches of muscle, the slick valleys of his spine. I dug my nails in, scratching red welts that glowed with violet energy.
"Audit me," I whispered, lifting my hips to grind against the hard ridge of him through his trunks. "Check the books, Barwell. See what I'm worth."
The command snapped something inside him. The red magic in his eyes flared, bright and feral, flooding his system with raw, unchecked power.
"Full disclosure," he growled.
His massive hands shot down, fingers hooking into the black fabric of my sports bra. There was no hesitation, no negotiation. With a sharp, tearing RIIIP, the high-performance material gave way, shredded by his magically amplified strength. He stripped it from me in one motion.
Before I could even gasp, his hands were on my hips. Another violent tear, and the briefs were gone, joining the bra in tatters on the canvas.
I lay there, suddenly and completely exposed, the oil on my skin glistening under the harsh lights, nothing between us but heat and magic.
"You're expensive," he rasped, his eyes devouring every inch of my naked form.
He lowered his head, capturing my mouth in a searing, bruising kiss. It wasn't gentle. It tasted of salt, oil, and ozone. It was a demand. He kissed me like he was trying to breathe for me, his tongue sweeping into my mouth, claiming it.
I wrapped my bare legs around his waist, locking my ankles, pulling him down harder. I wanted to feel every ounce of his weight against my naked skin. I wanted to be crushed by the market forces.
The magic flared white-hot. The oil between our bodies heated up, turning slicker, hotter. We weren't wrestling anymore; we were fusing. Every slide of his hips against mine sent a jolt of pleasure so intense it felt like pain.
He pulled back just an inch, his breath hot on my lips. "I'm not just a Fixed Asset," he whispered, his voice thick with lust. "I'm a growth stock."
I laughed, a breathless, delirious sound, and pulled him back down. "Then grow," I commanded against his mouth. "Expand the portfolio."
I didn't fight his weight. I used it. I hooked my heels behind his knees, trapping his legs. Then, I arched my hips—not just a physical bridge, but a magical surge. I sent a pulse of violet energy straight into his core, a command to yield.
It caught him off guard. The sudden spike of sensation made him gasp, his grip loosening for a fraction of a second.
That was all I needed.
I twisted, using the oil to spin underneath him like a frictionless bearing. I grabbed his thick wrist, using his own momentum to roll him. He went over with a heavy, wet slap against the canvas, and suddenly, the positions were reversed.
I was on top.
I straddled his hips, my knees pinning his massive thighs to the mat. I sat up tall, my chest heaving, fully nude and dripping with gold and sweat, looking down at him. He lay there, a fallen titan, chest rising and falling, eyes dark with desire and confusion.
"Hostile takeover averted," I purred, placing my oil-slicked hands on his pecs. "Management is back in session."
I leaned forward, sliding my hands up his chest, over his neck, tangling into his beard. I pulled his face up slightly, forcing him to look at me. "You talked about a growth stock, Barwell," I murmured, my voice dropping to a smoky whisper. "Let's see if we can diversify your holdings."
I shifted my weight, grinding my hips down against him. The oil between our bodies created a suction, a wet, heated seal. I felt him twitch beneath me, his hands gripping my naked hips, his thumbs digging into my skin.
"Don't just sit there," I commanded. "Invest."
I closed my eyes and called on the magic. I didn't draw from him this time; I pushed. I took the violet energy of my control and the red heat of his aggression and forced them down into the point of contact between our bodies.
"I am expanding the portfolio," I whispered.
I visualized the energy expanding, filling him. I wasn't just stimulating his body; I was overclocking his nervous system. I sent waves of pleasure-pain rolling through him, turning his muscles to steel and his blood to fire.
Barwell roared, his head throwing back against the canvas, his back arching off the mat. He tried to buck me off, but I rode the motion, clamping my thighs tight, my body moving in a fluid, undulating rhythm that matched his desperate struggles.
"Too much?" I teased, leaning down to bite his lower lip. "The market is volatile today."
I moved my hands down his torso, my thumbs tracing the lines of his abs. Every touch left a trail of glowing violet light on his oiled skin.
"I'm going to push your valuation through the roof," I promised.
I grabbed his wrists and pinned them to the mat above his head—a mirror of what he had done to me moments before. But where he had used brute strength, I used magic. The violet light flared, forming shackles of pure energy around his wrists, binding him to the canvas.
He was helpless. He was strong enough to snap me in half, but he was paralyzed by the sheer overload of sensation I was feeding him.
"Now," I breathed, lowering my body until my chest brushed his, the oil making us slide together deliciously. "Let's see what kind of dividends you pay out."
I began to move faster, a relentless, driving rhythm. I wasn't just wrestling him; I was refining him. I was taking all that raw, masculine potential and forging it into something I could use.
And Barwell? He shattered. He surrendered to the expansion, his roars turning into broken, guttural moans as I took everything he had to give.
The air was thick, practically solid with the heat of our exertion. Barwell was pinned, his wrists bound by violet light, his chest heaving. But I wasn't done. I needed to ensure this acquisition was absolute.
"Face-to-face negotiations are effective," I purred, running my hands down his slick, heaving torso. "But sometimes, you have to turn your back on the market to really feel the volatility."
I rose slightly, the oil on our skin making a wet, suctioning sound. I swung my leg over his head, spinning my body 180 degrees.
"Reverse merger," I whispered.
I settled back down. I wasn't straddling his hips anymore. I was sitting on his upper chest, facing his feet, my back to his face. I lowered my hips, planting my weight firmly onto his sternum and neck area, claiming his breath, claiming his view.
This, the Facesit Pin, drenched in oil and magic, it was an act of supreme ownership.
I leaned back, resting my weight against his raised knees, arching my spine. I could feel his heart hammering against my thighs. I could feel the desperate heat of his breath on my lower back, his beard grazing the bare skin of my glutes.
"Can you handle the weight of the assets, Barwell?" I teased, rolling my hips. The friction was incredible—slick, hot, and heavy. I ground down, using the oil to slide and pressure him, turning my body into a vice of pleasure and control.
I reached back, finding his knees blindly with my hands, gripping them for leverage.
"I'm going to squeeze the liquidity right out of you," I promised.
I began to move, a slow, rhythmic grinding that utilized every ounce of my weight. I squeezed, tightening the hold on him, feeling him struggle and twitch beneath me. The magic flared again, the violet light intensifying around my hips, pulsing in time with my movements.
I felt his hands—still magically bound above his head, which was now beneath me—clench into fists. A low, guttural roar vibrated through his chest and into my most intimate places. He was close. The energy inside him was reaching critical mass.
"That's it," I gasped, throwing my head back, letting my violet-streaked hair sweep the canvas behind me. "Don't hold back the yield. Payout!"
I increased the tempo, grinding harder, faster, letting the magic siphon the explosive energy building within him. I rode out the storm of his power, taking everything he had, until with one final, earth-shaking buck of his hips beneath me, he shattered.
The roar died down, replaced by the ragged, desperate sound of his breathing and the wet, slick noise of our bodies moving against one another. The energy he released was a torrent—raw, hot, and masculine—and I didn't let a drop of it go to waste.
I leaned back into the sensation, my hips grinding slow and deep, milking the last dregs of the "dynamic thrust" he had offered up. I took it all. I tasted the salt on his skin, the metallic tang of the magic, and the rich, heavy essence of his surrender.
I licked my lips, savoring the heat that was now flooding my throat, a thick, intoxicating warmth that settled deep in my belly. I sucked in a breath that tasted of ozone and musk, my head falling back against his raised knees.
"That," I whispered, my voice a wrecked, husky purr, "is a complete liquidation."
I swallowed.
The sensation was final. It felt like a heavy, golden seal being stamped onto a document. The magic that had been arcing wildly around the room suddenly snapped tight, rushing into me, fueling the transaction. I felt his strength become my strength. I felt his will dissolve into my command.
Barwell lay beneath me, utterly spent. His massive chest heaved, his hands—now free from the magical bindings but too heavy to lift—twitching on the canvas. He was empty. I was full.
I slowly, languidly, climbed off him. My legs were trembling, but I felt powerful—a god who had just feasted. I turned and crawled up his body, the oil making me slide effortlessly over his damp skin, until I was lying on top of him, my chin resting on his heaving sternum.
I looked up into his face. His eyes were half-closed, glazed over with the afterglow of the ritual.
"The deal is closed, Mr. Barwell," I murmured, tracing the line of his bottom lip with a thumb. "The merger is a success."
I rolled off him, my body landing on the canvas with a wet, heavy sound. The silence in the Blockhouse was sudden and profound. The violet lightning that had crackled in the air was gone, leaving only the hum of the overhead lights and the ragged sound of our breathing.
"Clean-up operations," I sighed, staring up at the stone ceiling. My limbs felt heavy, pleasantly over-used, like jelly that hadn't quite set.
Barwell groaned, a deep, tectonic rumble. He sat up slowly, his muscles rippling under the sheen of oil and sweat. He looked at his hands, then at me. The red fire was gone from his eyes, replaced by his usual calm, heavy-lidded gaze.
"You drained me dry, Hana," he grumbled, though there was no heat in it. Just a simple statement of fact.
"Market correction," I teased, reaching out a hand. "Help me up. This oil is a hazard."
He gripped my forearm—his grip still strong, but gentle now—and hauled me to my feet. We both swayed for a moment, two slick, naked statues trying to find equilibrium on the canvas.
We walked to the showers in silence, leaving wet, oily footprints on the concrete floor.
The shower room was a stark, industrial space tiled in slate grey. It wasn't built for comfort; it was built for removing the grime of combat. I walked to the far wall and cranked the handle on the oversized showerhead.
A deluge of hot steam and water blasted down.
"Get in," I said, stepping under the spray.
Barwell stepped in behind me. The shower was large enough for two, but just barely. We stood close, the hot water hammering against our skin, mingling with the steam to turn the small stall into a white, misty box.
I watched as the water hit the drain. It ran gold and grey—the expensive olive oil, the sweat, the grime of the ring, and the faint, dissolving residue of my magic. The violet aura that had clung to my skin finally flickered and died, washing away into the gutter.
"Turn around," Barwell rumbled.
I obeyed, presenting my back to him. I felt him reach for the block of rough, pumice soap we kept for exactly this purpose.
"It's sticky," he muttered, lathering his hands.
"High-viscosity assets," I murmured, leaning my forehead against the cold tiles of the wall. "Scrub hard, Barwell. Don't leave any residue."
He began to wash me. His hands, which had been instruments of crushing force only minutes ago, were now methodical and servicing. The rough soap scratched pleasantly against my skin, cutting through the heavy oil. He started at my shoulders, working the tension out of my trapezius, then moved down my spine, his large thumbs digging into the muscles I had strained during the bridge.
"You went heavy on the kinetic drain," he noted, his voice low over the hiss of the water. He scrubbed my lower back, his knuckles grazing the skin he had marked earlier.
"We needed to test the capacity," I replied, my voice soft, stripped of the corporate persona. "You held up well."
"I always do."
He rinsed me off, the water cascading over my shoulders, taking the soap and oil with it. My skin felt raw, clean, and sensitized.
I turned around to face him. He was standing with his head bowed under the spray, water streaming off his beard and broad nose. He looked like a tired mountain.
I took the soap from his hands. "Your turn."
I didn't have his surface area, so I had to work in sections. I started with his chest, scrubbing the thick pectorals, circling the nipples that were still hard from the cold air of the room meeting the hot water. I washed the oil from his abs, then moved up to his neck.
I reached up, tangling my fingers in his wet beard, tilting his head down so I could look him in the eye.
"How are the numbers?" I asked quietly.
Barwell blinked, water dripping from his eyelashes. A slow, tired smile tugged at the corner of his mouth beneath the beard. "Solvent," he said. "Solid base."
I smiled back, genuine and soft. I stood on my tiptoes and pressed a gentle, clean kiss to his wet lips. There was no magic in it, no ozone, no power play. Just warm water and affection.
"Good," I whispered, stepping back and handing him the soap. "Then we open for business again tomorrow."
I stepped out of the spray, grabbing a rough white towel from the rack. As I dried my hair, watching him finish scrubbing the last of the golden oil from his massive legs, I felt a deep, quiet satisfaction.
The transaction was complete. The books were balanced. And the assets were safe.
