Victoria returned to her cottage, her mind racing with the information she had gathered. The castle of Branodunum was her next destination, and she was determined to find the table and complete the ritual. She felt a mix of excitement and trepidation, the allure of the power promised by the book driving her forward.

She packed a small bag with essentials: a canteen of water, some dried meat and bread, a small knife, and the mysterious book. She also included a silver chalice and a sprig of moonflower. She wondered if she should wear the underwear from the statue of Luna but decided to keep her attire simple. From the image, she knew she wouldn’t be wearing her simple dress for long when she got there.

As she prepared to leave, she glanced out the window, her heart pounding. There were whispers that she was being watched, and she had a feeling Aurik and the rangers were watching her, but she had to take the risk. The power she sought was too important to ignore. She took a sip of water as her throat was getting slightly dry, wondering why she wanted the power so intensely. She felt the power surge in her fingers, of course, she wanted to develop this power.

She took a deep breath and stepped out of her cottage, her resolve firm, wearing her sandals from Luna. The early morning sun cast a warm glow over the village, and the air was crisp and clear. She made her way to the edge of the village, where the path led north into the hills.

As soon as Victoria had stepped out of the village along the path to Castle Branodunum, Kira released her Kestral, which took to the sky, its keen eyes scanning the landscape. Kira and Eira then followed Victoria at a distance, staying hidden in the trees and shadows.

Meanwhile, Aurik, Thorne, and Grym began the search in Victoria’s cottage. Aurik read his warrant, cast an unlock spell, and slowly the three walked into the cottage. They had a look around, checking the drawers, and Thorne found the underwear of Luna, immediately feeling embarrassed on finding it.

Aurik examined it, and asked Thorne and Grym what they thought. The human and dwarf could only shrug their shoulders as Aurik then explained his theory.

"First, she’s not connected with the bandits. There’s no money or anything else she would have been asked to look after for a bunch of criminals. Second, the underwear Mr. Thorne found is very out of place considering the rest of her clothes are practical wear for being worn in a village like this one."

"So, I hear you wear did these fine items of filigree come from, as I doubt Miss Butterfield has ever been to the fine silk stores of Ithrill. Well, either the goddess Luna has decided to walk among us, or someone or something is playing Miss Butterfield."

Grym sighed, "So what you thinking, Aurik?"

"I sense powers from the outside, something unaware of the laws of the land, due to nature I suspect Demonic. Devils normally follow a code, Fey wouldn’t play the games, and Angels are more wholesome to wear something like that."

Thorne looked a little worried, "Demon, how powerful do you think?"

Aurik smiled, "I’m not sure, but I don’t think it’s that powerful considering it’s trying to snare a young woman into selling her soul using sexual techniques and manipulating a small statue of the goddess of lust."

Aurik’s voice rose louder, "Anyway, whatever it is, this village and Castle Branodunum come under the protection of Ithrillian law. And Ithrillian law applies to demonic contracts."

It was about an hour since Victoria had set off to the Castle; Aurik spoke to the other rangers, explained where he was going to them, and gave them a couple of hours. He sent a flying message back to Ithrill to explain what had happened in the village and potential demon incursion.

Aurik, Thorne, and Grym then rode off towards the castle, preparing their weapons and spells of protection.

Meanwhile, Victoria walked at a steady pace, her mind focused on the task ahead. The path was narrow and winding, leading through dense forests and over rocky terrain. The ruins of Branodunum loomed in the distance, a dark and foreboding presence.

As Victoria approached the castle, the Kestral circled overhead, relaying information to Kira. The castle was indeed in ruins, with parts of the walls and towers collapsed. The main entrance was blocked by fallen stones, just as the search party had reported. Victoria carefully navigated the debris, her heart racing as she entered the castle grounds.

The interior was a labyrinth of broken walls and crumbling chambers. The air was thick with the scent of decay and the echo of distant whispers. Victoria felt a chill run down her spine but then electricity with the excitement of power. She pressed on, determined to find the room and the table.

Kira and Eira tracked Victoria’s movements, staying hidden in the shadows. They noted the direction she took and the areas she explored. Aurik sent a message to them, and they communicated back where they were.

Victoria reached a large, open chamber in the heart of the castle, which appeared freshly opened, stones and boulders having exploded away from the door that had sealed it.

The room was dimly lit, with only a few shafts of light piercing the darkness. In the center of the room, she found the table, just as described in the book. It was a heavy, dark wooden structure, with intricate carvings and leather bindings. The air around it seemed to pulse with an otherworldly energy.

Victoria's heart raced as she approached the table, the room heavy with shadows all over. Her hand stroked the table, feeling the grain of the wood that made the table. She opened and closed the cuffs, seeing the steel spike that went into the cuffs to lock them. From there, she held the chains that kept the cuffs to the table, heavy with a clunking sound as Victoria placed it back on the table.

As she explored the room, her eyes were drawn to a small, ornate chest near the table. She approached it, her heart pounding with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. She lifted the lid, and inside, she found a collection of items that sent a shiver down her spine.

First, she picked up a long, leather whip. The leather was soft and supple, and the handle was intricately carved with symbols that seemed to pulse with dark energy. She ran her fingers along the leather, imagining the sting it would leave on her skin. She set it down, her breath quickening.

Next, she found a set of silk restraints, each end adorned with a small, silver buckle. The silk was smooth and cool to the touch, and she could almost feel the gentle pressure it would apply. She wrapped one around her wrist, feeling the restraint tighten, and then released it, placing it back in the chest.

She then discovered a small, wooden paddle, its surface smooth and polished. The handle was carved with intricate designs, and she could feel the weight of it in her hand. She imagined the sensation of it against her skin, the mix of pain and pleasure it would bring. She set it down, her heart racing.

Victoria's eyes were drawn to a set of nipple clamps, each attached to a chain. She picked up a pair, feeling the cold metal between her fingers. The clamps were designed with small, adjustable teeth that could be tightened to grip the skin. She attached the clamps to the chain and held a weight, about the size of an apple, at the end of the chain. She imagined the sensation of the weight pulling on her skin, the mix of pain and heightened sensitivity it would bring. She set it down, her heart pounding.

Next, she found a heavier set of nipple clamps, each with a longer chain and a weight the size of a small pear. She picked up the weight, feeling its heft in her hand. She imagined the intensity of the pull, the way it would stretch and tug at her skin. She set it down, her mind racing with the possibilities.

As she continued to explore the chest, her eyes fell on a set of smaller, more delicate clamps. They were different from the nipple clamps, with a more intricate design. She picked one up, examining it closely. The clamp was smaller and more finely crafted, with a polished surface. She wondered what it was for, and then it dawned on her. These were for her clitoris. She felt a surge of both fear and excitement. She imagined the sensation of the clamp, the way it would heighten her pleasure and the pinching pain. She set it down, her heart racing.

Victoria's eyes were drawn to a scold's bridle, a metal device with a bit that would fit in her mouth and a chain that could be locked around her head. She picked it up, feeling the cold metal and the weight of the bit. She imagined the sensation of the metal against her skin, the way it would press into her mouth and the chain around her head. She set it down, her mind filled with doubt.

Next, she found a ball gag made of ivory, smooth and cool to the touch. She imagined the sensation of the ivory ball in her mouth, the way it would silence her. She set it down, her heart pounding.

She then discovered a ring gag made from silver, with a small ring that would fit over her tongue. She picked it up, feeling the cool metal and the intricate design. She imagined the sensation of the ring, the way it would hold her tongue in place. She set it down, her mind filled with a mix of fear and excitement.

Victoria's eyes were drawn to a collection of simpler objects: wooden pegs, a metal comb, a dagger, and pins. She picked up a wooden peg, feeling its smooth surface. She imagined the sensation of the peg pressing into her skin, the way it would mark her. She set it down, her heart racing.

She then picked up the metal comb, feeling the cold metal teeth. She ran the comb through her fingers, feeling the sharp, cold metal against her skin. She imagined the sensation of the comb running through her hair, the way it would tug and pull, the cold metal biting into her scalp. She set it down, her mind filled with a mix of fear and excitement.

Next, she found a dagger, its blade sharp and deadly. She picked it up, feeling the weight and the cold metal. She imagined the sensation of the blade, the way it could cut and pierce. She set it down, her heart pounding.

Finally, she discovered a small, ornate wand, made of dark wood and inlaid with silver. She picked it up, feeling the weight and the smooth surface. As she held it, a dark energy seemed to pulse through her, filling her with a sense of power. She imagined herself all-powerful, able to command the forces of darkness.

Victoria took a deep breath, her resolve firm. She knew what she had to do. She stripped off her dress and laid down on the table, her heart pounding with a mix of fear and anticipation. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come.

Her internal monologue told her that the power was worth it, that the darkness would make her strong and unbreakable. She imagined herself commanding the forces of the underworld, her will unbreakable.

She took another deep breath, her mind filled with determination. She pictured herself, bathed in the darkness with the power it would bring. She had no idea what she would do with the power, but she wanted the power first. Would she go to Ithrill to explore the city or find out what else was in this world.

She was ready for this.

It was time to lie on the table.
