Although I have known about the character Svengali and his pop culture influence for most of my life, only in recent years did I learn about Trilby, the hypnotized damsel that he enslaved. When I did finally discover her and learned that her bare feet play an important role in her story, I knew that I wanted to pay tribute to her in some way. This little scenario that I've concocted hopefully does that.
The photograph is of Marian Marsh, the early 20th century actress who so brilliantly and beautifully brought Trilby to life on the big screen in 1931's "Svengali." Her lovely feet are prominently shown and discussed in the film--a rarity to say the least in classic cinema.
