While I do feel guilty--and rightfully so--for despoiling such a lovely piece of art for the sake of cheap, tawdry, fetish thrills, I will say in my defense that according to Getty curators, Mr. Godward painted his female figures "in various states of romantic expectation, dreamy absorption, or erotic playfulness." So, maybe he would've approved of my adaptation of his painting. Probably he wouldn't, but, hey, I can dream, can't I?
