Having previously discussed the flash wash and impending wash scenarios, now I want to move onto two others: fly in honey wash and dare wash

Fly in Honey Wash
fly in honey wash involves a subject being ensnared by something seemingly innocent or pleasurable. By the time she realizes that she's losing control of her mind, it is too late to pull free. And that is if she ever realizes that it is happening at all. Perhaps she is enticed to look at a pretty, swirling spiral by someone she trusts, but who actually has nefarious mind controlling plans for her. Or, maybe she stumbles upon a broadcast or recording containing subliminal messages that unknowingly plant hypnotic suggestions in her pliable mind.

"Ready when you are," Evie said from the hallway.

"Just need a minute," Kimberly called out from her room.

Evie sighed and shook her head. Kimberly's minute would likely be no fewer than 30. At least that gave Evie some time to check out that art site she'd been meaning to visit. She grabbed her laptop and plopped down on the living room couch.

The site was pretty cool. It featured all sorts of artwork, as well as stories, discussions, and commentary. Evie browsed it randomly, not having any specific direction or intention, other than just seeing some new and nifty stuff.

"Hm," she said, coming across an engaging piece. "The color and shading on this one is amazing. And the way it almost jumps off the screen is really impressive. Let's see if the artist has more like it..."

The artist did indeed have more like it. Evie scrolled through the images. They all followed a similar theme, but each had its own unique qualities.

Then, she came to the last one. It was the most bizarre, yet beautiful thing she had ever seen. It was so vibrant, so engrossing. She would almost swear it moved. But no, it wasn't animated. It was just an illusion of movement. It swirled and spiraled, or at least it seemed to, just at the edge of perception.

Somewhere in the back of her mind, Evie thought briefly about how much time had passed. Kimberly should be ready now, or almost, anyway. She should sign off and get ready to go. She should, but she didn't want to. Not yet. No, she was just too fascinated by this image. This swirling, spiraling image.

She would look at it for just another moment. Just a little longer. Just until Kimberly was finally ready....

    * * *

"Okay, I'm ready," Kimberly said, emerging at last from her room. "And bite your tongue about me taking half an hour. It's only been 22 minutes, all right? Evie? Hey, where are you? There you are. What are you doing? I thought you said you were ready. Why are your shoes and socks off? And get your feet off the coffee table. Evie? Hello? Come on, we need to go. What are you looking at?"

Kimberly sat down next to Evie, leaning in to see the image on the screen.

"Oh, wow, that is a sweet picture," she said. "It almost looks like it's moving. Like it's swirling around. Whoa. That's, wow, that's...really...neat."

"I...obey," Evie said.

"W-what did you say?"

"I...obey."

"O-obey?"

"I...obey."

Kimberly didn't realize that she was taking off her shoes. Nor did she notice that she placed her bare feet on the coffee table. The only thing she knew was what she now said in unison with Evie:

"I...obey...."

Dare Wash
A dare wash occurs when a subject either invites the mind control effort, or at least blows off the possibility that it will work. She might be a skeptic who believes hypnosis is bunk, or she might think that she is simply too strong willed to fall under another's control. Of course, she is completely wrong. And she unwittingly proves herself to be an extremely susceptible and suggestible subject.

Ali crossed her arms and shook her head.

"I'm not saying hypnosis isn't real. I'm just saying you couldn't hypnotize me. Why not? Because of several things. First, your knowledge comes from watching a couple of YouPlay videos. That doesn't exactly qualify you as an expert. Second, you're about as hypnotic as wet cardboard. No offense. You're pretty, you're smart, you're nice. But you don't have the makings of a cult leader, much less a saleswoman. And you have to sell hypnosis to the subject, you know? Third, I'm not suggestible. At all. When was the last time you saw me give in and do something I didn't want to? Right. Not ever. And fourth, I'm not a sit-back-and-relax type of person. I'm not chill. I'm hyper. On the go. All the time. So, even if you were a hypnotist and I was suggestible, you couldn't get me to relax enough to get sleepy. Are those enough reasons for you?

"You still want to try? Really? Why waste your time and mine? What's the point? We both know it won't work. Oh. Putting your money where your mouth is. Well, now it is worth my time. If you've got $20 you can throw away on a losing bet, I'm happy to take it from you. How do we do this? Got a pocket watch? A crystal? Fine, a pocket watch it is. Take off my shoes. Okay. Sit down in the recliner. Sure. Put my feet up. Right. Am I comfy? Yeah, I guess. Relaxed? No, not really.

"Hey, as absolutely enthralling as it is to watch you clumsily swing that watch back and forth <snort!>, do you think you could not stand in front of the TV while it's on? I'm supposed to focus on you, not whatever's behind you, right? What is that anyway? I don't recognize that channel. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm supposed to be watching the watch. But it's your fault for not turning off the TV and standing where you did. So hold your horses for a second and let me see what this is. And take two steps that way, while you're at it.

"Huh. That is weird. Is there a plot to it? I mean, the design is cool. The colors and patterns are kind of psychedelic. The flashes are kind of annoying, though. Talk about an epileptic nightmare. Still, annoying or not, it's...fun. Yeah, yeah, we'll get back to you not hypnotizing me in a minute. I just want to see this. It's...engrossing. Captivating. What? Yeah, sure, I'd even say it's...hypnotic. But, no, it couldn't hypnotize me any more than you could. I can look away any time. I will look away, just to prove it to you. Yeah, I'll look away...in just a second.

"I...won't look away? I...can't look away? I...am being...hypnotized? What? No. Your plan all along? No...not possible. I...feel relaxed? Yeah...I...feel relaxed. I...feel sleepy. So...sleepy. No...you're...you're not...hypnotizing...me. N-no. N-n-nnnnn...

"...Zzzzzz...

"Yes...I am hypnotized...and I obey...."

That's it for now. Next time, I'll cover willing wash.
