Subjects Part II
Before…
The pretty young woman sat slightly reclined in a lounger, with her arms at her sides, her legs stretched out, and her bare feet up on a padded support. She wore an examination gown and had a peaceful expression on her face. Her eyes stared up at an overhead screen, on which displayed a multi-colored, spiraling pattern. The whole of her attention was locked on the image.
“What is your name?” a technician in a lab coat asked, fingers hovering over a tablet to record the response.
“Firebird,” the young woman said.
“What kind of name is Firebird?”
“It’s a superheorine alias.”
“Why do you have it?”
“Because I’m a superheroine.”
The technician finished the data entry and looked back at a nearby superior. The superior nodded approval..
Elsewhere, another attractive young woman lay upon a hospital bed. An IV drip fed into her arm, and an apparatus akin to a compact salon hair dryer rested atop her head. She wore a T-shirt and briefs, and she slept deeply beneath the rhythmic humming of the machine. Only an occasional moan accompanied by a twitching of her toes indicated that she was not completely at peace.
A lab-coated technician lowered the output levels on the mechanical helmet. The young woman responded almost immediately.
“Mm,” she said through still closed eyes. “Mm...mmuh…”
The technician held a digital recorder close to her mouth.
“Muh...my...my name is...Astrogirl. I am...a superheroine. My name is Astrogirl. I am a superheroine. I’m going to change my name to Astrowoman. I’m going to register it with the city.”
With a nod of acceptance, the technician raised the output levels back to where they had been. The apparatus hummed louder again, and the young woman stopped talking. She sighed, and her toes twitched, as she reentered a deep state of slumber.

After…
Turn off lights above Alpha’s chair. Alpha and Beta: It is still dark, but your eyes have adjusted to it.
“How far do think we’ve walked?” Firebird asked.
“It doesn’t feel like very far,” Astrogirl said. “Although, I can’t see your chair any more.”
“Me neither. But I can see you now, and I can more or less make out the floor.”
“That’s an improvement. But I still can’t see well enough to tell where we are or where we’re going. We might have made a turn, or multiple ones. I just can’t tell. In any case, I think we’re lost.”
“You only think we’re lost? I know we’re lost,” Firebird said. “And jeez, could they keep these floors any colder? I mean, I know we’re not in the Ritz, but it can’t be that expensive to put in baseboard heating if you’re going to steal your captives’ boots.”
“Oh, goodie,” Astrogirl said, rolling her eyes. “We’re back to the jokes.”
Alpha: You are remorseful, sad, and needy. Beta: You lust uncontrollably for Alpha.
“Hey,” Firebird said, reaching out to take Astrogirl’s hand. “I’m sorry. I really am. Joking is something I do to cover my fear and insecurity. And right now, I’m about as scared and insecure as I’ve ever been.”
The black-clad heroine began to tear up. She sniffed and wiped her eyes with her free hand. Astrogirl looked at her companion. No longer disdainful, something else now filled her gaze--something wolfish.
“It’s okay,” Astrogirl said, pulling Firebird close and embracing her. “It’s totally okay.”
Firebird began to sob into Astrogirl’s shoulder. Astrogirl moved one hand up to pet the weeping heroine’s head and moved the other slowly down her PVC covered back. As Firebird continued to cry, Astrogirl grabbed her ass and yanked her head back by the hair. Completely overcome with desire, Astrogirl lunged forward, thrusting her probing tongue into Firebird’s open mouth.
Alpha and Beta: Forget my last commands and what you have done while obeying them. Beta: You are ravenously hungry.
The two heroines stepped back from another.
“Everything okay?” Firebird asked Astrogirl, noticing that her grey-clad companion was licking her lips.
“Do you have any food on you?”
“Where do you think I’d keep food?”
“I don’t know. In your pockets or something? Uhhh, I am starving.”
“Pockets? In this thing? Yeah, right. That’s why I wear a utility belt, which does have some protein bars in it. But sorry, our lovely captors took it along with all my other stuff.”
“Uhhhh. I need to eat right now,” Astrogirl said, her face contorted into a pained grimace. “Seriously. My stomach is killing me, and my blood sugar is so low I think I’m going to pass out.”
“Whoa, okay, take it easy. We’ll find food. But it may take a little while. Remember the whole being lost thing? Why don’t you sit down and rest for a minute.”
“Uhhhhhh!”
Beta: Your hunger is gone. Alpha: Your feet are so ticklish that anything touching them drives you crazy. Even walking on the floor tickles them immensely.
“Whew,” Astrogirl said, panting and rubbing her stomach. “It doesn’t hurt any more, and I don’t feel as weak. It must have been a bad cramp or something. I can keep going.”
“You sure?”
“Uh-huh. We should move. We have to get out of here.”
“Right,” Firebird said with a nod.
The two heroines began walking. Almost immediately, Firebird began giggling.
“Really?” Astrogirl said. “More jokes?”
“No, no,” Firebird said through continued laughter. “I don’t know what I’m stepping in or on, but it’s tickling my feet something awful. Heeheehee!”
Both women began searching the floor.
“I don’t see anything,” Astrogirl said after searching around. “You?”
“Nope. Hahaha!”
“Here, let me take a look at your feet.”
Firebird sat down on the floor and extended her legs to Astrogirl, who knelt down in front of her.
“I don’t see anything, aside from specks of dust and dirt,” Astrogirl said, as she held Firebird’s ankle and peered closely at her foot.
She reached out and poked Firebird’s heel, sole, and toes. With each touch, Firebird squirmed more and more, until at last she bellowed out a guffaw.
“That tickled? How sensitive are you?”
“Not at all. At least, not before now.”
Unsure what to make of Firebird’s reaction or statement, Astrogirl released the heroine’s ankle. Then she reached out and gently touched the other foot. Firebird screeched in laughter.
“Stop! Please stop! Hahahahaha!”
“Wow. This is a problem. If you’re this ticklish, how are you going to walk?”
Alpha: Your sensitivity is normal again.
“Well, I have to try,” Firebird said.
She stood up carefully and practiced putting weight on one foot, then the other, and then both.
“It seems...better now. I think I can walk. Yeah, it’s okay. Let’s go.”
Astrogirl nodded cautiously, and then the two heroines began walking again.
Light up door number four in the middle of the wall. Alpha and Beta: Turn to your left and see the now accessible door.
“Hey!” Astrogirl said, pointing.
“Yeah, I see it! I hope it’s a way out!”
Without another word, they broke into a run towards the possible exit.
Meet the subjects on the other side of the door and sedate them. Take them to their respective cells for debriefing and memory readjustment. Use the same methods as before on each one. Then prepare subjects Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, and Zeta for phase one.
Annotation to phase three. Subjects responded perfectly to real-time stimuli. Both methods of mind control used on them proved equally effective and can be considered completely successful...pending confirmation of no residual effects after memory readjustment in phase four.

Now…
Two attractive young women sit on a bench on the train platform. One notices the other looking at her quizzically.
“Sorry,” the gawker says. “You just look familiar.”
“No worries. You seem familiar, too. Hey, are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. I’m just...so hungry. Like, stomach ache and dizzy hungry. Oh my gosh, I think I may pass out.”
“Here, have this granola bar. I don’t need it.”
“Thanks so much! Mm, that’s good. And it’s helping. Whew! Thanks again. What? What’s so funny? Do I have crumbs all over my face?”
“No, no. Hahaha! Something is tickling the hell out of my foot. Heeheehee! But I don’t know what it is. I don’t see anything in my shoe. Heehee!”
“Wow, that’s weird. I hope it goes away. I hate it when stuff like that happens that you can’t control.”
“The feeling’s gone now. I’m okay. And I totally agree with you. Not being in control really sucks. I hope I’m never in that situation again.”
The women smile and nod in agreement. They still feel like they’ve met before, but neither can remember how, when, or where. Once the train arrives, it won’t really matter. They’ll go their separate ways and probably won’t even think about it.
Or maybe they will eventually remember. Maybe they’ll remember it all.
