It was 2AM and the streets were only lit by the line of streetlamps along the downtown main street. All the businesses were closed but a single person was found walking down the sidewalks. Devin, she had just left her first day of working at Portions. Or was it her first month? She carried herself with a thousand yard stare, completely dumbfounded by her experience. What just happened to her? How was any of this possible? So many questioned ran through her mind, unfocused and unable to find any answers to them. She took a deep breath and slapped her cheeks, it was time to focus.
She stopped briefly and realized the solution to a question that needed an answer first and foremost. Devin reached into her bag and pulled out her phone, letting out a gasp at the sight of the screen. A month really did go by. How could this be? Devin unlocked her phone and browsed through her history. There were no new calls, no new texts, everything was as it was a month ago, which felt like it was only this morning to her. Despite being new to this town, Devin expected to at least get some spam calls from telemarketers. She let out a frustrated grumble, this gave her more questions than answers. Devin shoved her phone back into her bag and quickly made her way home.
After a short walk, only a few blocks from the restaurant she was now employed at, Devin arrived at her apartment. She fumbled with her keys and walked inside. It was a very humble space, very small with only a single room. Closing the door behind her, she dropped her bag down on the kitchen counter and walked towards the small living room. Despite all that happened to her, everything felt the same as the first day she moved into this apartment. This confused Devin more so than she already was feeling. If a month had past, she thought to herself, shouldn't there have been signs of that? There was no new mail piling up anywhere, no dust on her furniture, everything was how she left it from this morning, which this morning happened to be a month ago.
Frustrated with getting no answers to help her process what was going on, Devin fell back onto her couch, slumping as much she could. Her brow furrowed as she pouted, why did nothing change if an entire month had gone by? She kicked her feet up onto the arm rest and folded her hands behind her head. Normally this would be around the time Devin would start getting ready for bed, but her racing thoughts were keeping her up. She took a deep breath in to focus herself, she wanted to get her mind off all these questions, but that's when she had a realization. It wasn't a groundbreaking revelation or anything, it wasn't even on topic to the things on her mind. But from the angle she had positioned herself, Devin just realized how big her chest actually was.
This wasn't new information or anything, Devin had always been teased about the size of her bust, she was always painfully aware of it. But for the first time in her life, she actually could see her chest for being something completely different than just her chest. She gave herself a slight poke, feeling the squish against the tip of her finger and watching the soft motion. Maybe it was a result of what she had been through over the last month, things were suddenly coming back to her. A majority of her time at Portions was what she was looking at. What an odd thought, she pondered to herself. Her body has memories she technically didn't have. Devin remembered sitting around the restaurant, guests give her playful pats and touches, but these weren't memories that were in her head. No, these were memories from touch alone. That's right, she figured out her situation now. A month ago, she was taken apart, something she didn't even know was possible. The last memory she had from what she thought was this morning was her head being put in a box, and things went dark from there. But it wasn't darkness like she'd expect from being left in a box. For the last month, it was like her head just didn't exist. Devin looked down to her chest and realized, these mounds she carried around on her chest, for most of the last month, was all she was entirely.
Devin straightened up in her seat as she started to rub the sides of her head. The memories of the last month started to flood her into her head, almost quite literally as these were not the memories from her head. She was taken apart, left in pieces, reorganized, and only put back together in one piece an hour ago. These sort of things shouldn't be possible, and yet, these sort of things were now her job? Whatever is going on, she thought, it all must be some sort of weirdo magic. How else was this possible? People don't normally just go to pieces, right? And everything in her life just paused without her, that's totally not normal. What sort of cosmic entity has taken control of her life and decided she was a toy to be played with?
That's when all the questions stopped rotating in Devin's mind. Only one question stuck, it was all she could focus on. Was she a toy? She peered down to her hands, back and front, and they seemed to be the same hands she always had. Devin pinched the skin on her arm and it reacted just as skin would. There was no way she was literally a toy, she's a person for sure. But for the last month, she effectively was treated as doll, taken apart and played with. Her heart started to race a bit. Was it okay for her to be treated in such a way that reduced her down to just being an object? She felt like this should be a problem, but why wasn't it a problem?
Devin gave this question a lot of thought. She began to remember her time in the restaurant. When she arrived, there was an application she needed to fill out before anything else that happened. That's right, she knew what she was getting into. There were notices that were very clear to her, things about nudity, people being hands on with her, these were things she had to consent to. And Devin did exactly that, she even declared herself a new person from that moment on. She felt her cheeks turn red from the very thought of it. This was her new job, just thinking about that fact got her excited for the new life that was ahead of her.
But then a new question popped into her head. This was a question that she never thought she'd need to ask herself in this sort of context. Was she hot? It's not like Devin never asked herself this question before, everyone wonders these sorts of things about themselves. But this was a different side of the question. It was no longer an issue of trying to figure out something she didn't know. Now she found herself in a position where being desired was literally the career choice she made and Devin needed to figure out how she got here.
With a new question that needed an answer, Devin got up from the couch and made her way to her bedroom. Things were messy, clothes thrown about all over the furniture, but that was how she left it and this was completely irrelevant to the situation. She closed the bedroom door to reveal a full body mirror behind it and stared towards her own reflection. Normally she wouldn't think it unusual to see herself in the mirror, but she had to not see her as herself. Devin was putting reflection to the test and she did her best to judge it as though she was any other person than herself.
The first observation was a pretty obvious one. Devin's hands reached up to her bust and gave the sides of her chest a soft push together. These were what she spent the last month mostly as and typically the first part of her people tend to notice. Her hands slid there way down the curves of her breasts as her palms rested beneath the pair, giving them a small bounce. She let out a sigh from the corner of her mouth, these things were always a nuances to her. Constantly getting in the way while drawing the attention of others. Memories of constantly receiving "back problem" jokes that frustrated her to know end. Devin looked at the pair in her reflection, but she made an observation she hadn't considered before. Given the fact she spent the last month as just these heavy things on her chest, she imagined what that may have looked like. It made her realized that if her head and breast were popped off her body and placed next to each other, side by side, her breast were probably actually the bigger of the two. Even just one would make her head look small, the thought of two was even a bit overwhelming. She giggled at the idea of such a ridiculous situation.
Devin's mood lightened a bit, but she needed to press on. Her hands travelled along her curves and rested at her hips. Despite mostly just being a pair of breasts to greet guests at the restaurant's front desk, Devin did spend some time waiting tables too. However, this didn't bring her back to one piece during her time working there. Instead, her breast were put away and her legs were brought out in their place. A walking lower half with a tray on top of her waist. She wondered how she was able to do something like that. Lower halves have no ability to see, she would have remembered if she did see anything during that time, so how did she know where to go and avoid bumping into things? Devin turned side to side, posing a bit for the mirror while pondering such oddities. But such questions were distracting her from her original intent.
Her gaze narrowed in on her lower half, but brow furrowed as she tried to see what others saw. She realized that what she was looking at was not technically what the customers at the restaurant saw. Devin let out a deep breath and started to unbutton her pants. With a quick tug downward, the jeans she wore dropped to the floor. She kicked them away as they blended in with the rest of the clothes thrown about in her room. There she stood, legs bare and her black panties now on display. Devin lifted the bottom of her shirt to get a better view of herself. This was more or less the view that everyone at the restaurant got while she was waiting on tables. Her legs was never something she never considered attractive before, but she never really thought of them as unattractive either. Now that she's having to be more critical of how she looked, Devin could see the appeal she had. She was short, but her legs did have a good shape to them. Clearly she was plus sized, but the curves of her body made it really work. Her wide hips especially complimented her, giving Devin a classic hourglass figure. She turned herself around and peered from over her shoulder. Yeah, she did have a wide load from behind, she thought to herself. She gave a playful shimmy to the mirror, but seeing her rear end from this angle made her remember all the hands that found there way to it. Devin must have been popular if that was the case, and she really surprised herself how much she's started to agree with why.
Devin turned back to face the mirror forward, and she began to feel satisfied with what she saw. She had never felt so confident with herself before, and it was an amazing feeling. A smile stretched from ear to ear on her face as she continued to view her reflection. She almost had forgotten she had taken off her pants earlier, the sight of her bare legs felt natural to her for the first time. Though her eyes did wonder to the clock in the room, it was now three in the morning. Devin shrugged, it was already past her normal bedtime, she should probably start getting ready for bed. She raised her hands to unbutton her top, but she couldn't take her eyes off the reflection in the mirror. Carelessly, she tossed the top in the general direction of her dresser, but her eyes did not leave the mirror. She stood there in her underwear, bra and panties, and started to pose for her reflection. Despite the newfound appreciation for her figure, something suddenly didn't feel right.
She crossed her arms, she tapped her chin, she tilted her head side to side. What was this feeling that was bothering her? Her hands returned to her hips, posing for her reflection again. Now she was only in her underwear, the opinion of her figure didn't change, she was happy with what she saw, but what was this feeling? But then it hit her, she snapped her fingers to the realization. This isn't what the people at Portions would be seeing while she was on the job. She traced around her waist with the sides of her hands, trying to mimic the visualization of dividing herself. If Devin was waiting tables, she wouldn't have the top of her body. Her hands traveled up her figure and rested on the top of her chest. If she was a front desk greeter, all she that she would be were the contents of her bra. Then her hands slowly moved their way up to her neck, her fingers wrapping themselves under her chin. How is it possible, she wondered, how could any of what she just determined even be real? Devin could feel her heart pound in her chest. Her hands moved into a rather odd position. She bit her lip as one hand continue to rest under her chin, while the other rose to cup the back of her head. Is this something that she could even do? She started to pull her hands and rock her head side to side, biting her lip at the very idea that what she's about to attempt is even possible. Her eyes sealed shut as she gave a rough tug upward. It felt unnatural, but what came after was a familiar yet surreal experience. Slowly, Devin opened her eyes, one by one, and she looked at what the mirror had to show her. Between her chin and her neck, Devin could see her long, dark brown hair fill the gap between them. And the gap was what she was hoping to see, she held her head high above her body, completely removed from her neck.
It was possible, Devin could do what she thought was impossible, all on her own. She lowered her head and turned it around. Now she could see her own body, no longer through the reflection of her mirror. She tried to turn to get a better view, but it dawned onto her that her neck no longer was in control of her line of sight for her head. Devin had to use her hands to adjust her view, and that she did, giving herself a look from neck to toe. This was a very surreal experience for her, she had always been able to see herself in a mirror, or looking down from her neck, but never had she seen this angle of herself. The sight of her body didn't even feel like it belonged to her. Was this what people saw when the looked at her?
Devin's body made its way across the bedroom, it was a very bizarre feeling. Her head was not facing forward, but somehow she could control herself without ever bumping into the various things sprawled across the floor. Devin rested her head on top of the dresser she threw her top towards earlier, and her body took a few steps back so she could get an even better view of herself. This was the same body she saw in her reflection, but now it was real, standing before her like another person in the room. What a strange feeling she had. Devin waved her hand, she had to make sure she was controlling herself. It was an experience she had a hard time understanding. The actions her body did were syncing up to actions she had intended, but it didn't feel like she was controlling it as one normally would. She let out a small chuckle at the thought of having a literal out of body experience.
The moment was interrupted, however, by the tone of her cellphone getting a text. Devin gave a frustrated pout from the moment being ruined. Her body walked over to her bag and took out her phone. But she realized she had no idea how she did that. While carrying her own head, she made sure to walk slowly enough not to lose balance. But just now, her body moved around the bedroom as if her head was still on, as if by instinct. She lingered on this thought while her thumbnail continued to unlock her phone. Then she realized that she had no ability to actually read the text message in this position. So Devin's body made her way back to the dresser and held the phone up to her head. She was surprised to see that the message sent to her was a work schedule. Even more shocking, there was a full three weeks before they wanted her to come back into the restaurant. Devin winced at the idea of having so much free time on her hands, but with some more thought, she realized it was probably for the best. When she's working, she's completely out of it for an entire month. This made a grin grow across her face, as that meant she should already be getting a full month's paycheck soon.
Devin locked her phone again and carelessly threw it onto her bed. She decided it's probably time to put her head back on. While she reached out and lifted her head off the dresser, she had thoughts of how she was going to spend her next upcoming weeks of break. Perhaps she should devote some of that time off to learning more about the situation. Maybe someone out there could explain to her how any of this is possible. Devin lowered her head down onto her neck, but there was a moment of panic. She adjusted her head left to right, but she wasn't feeling a connection. Her head sat on her neck but it didn't feel like things were back to normal. Her neck was hitting the spot under her chin, but it wasn't connecting like it should. She gritted her teeth and worried she did something wrong. Something was wrong, and she was quick to figure it out. Devin rolled her eyes and spun her head around, now facing in the forward position it should have been. She let off a sigh of relief now that her head was connected firmly onto her neck. It was nice to discover that she couldn't mess up putting herself back together, even if she tried.
With a new feeling of excitement for her future, Devin fell back into her bed and made herself comfortable. Tomorrow is the first day for the new Devin she had become. And with three weeks of freedom, she decided that she'll spend that trying to figure out what brought her to this spot. But she was restless, she couldn't wait another minute. Devin grabbed her phone and decided to do some quick research now. But where to start? She aimless started to type random words into the search engine. Falling apart? Taking apart? People coming apart? What would get result? She just kept entering search after search, not getting any results. Devin pouted in frustration, but she had one more idea. She typed in the words "body part business" and hit search. She expected to find the website for Portions, given that was the only business she could think of that had such a ludicrous description. But to her surprise, Devin found something entirely different. She clicked the first link and discovered a business simply called "The Rental Shop" and it was just on the other side of town from her. Devin browse through the site's description. Her eyes grew wide as she learned what this shop actually did.
Devin had a new goal in mind. She dropped her phone and pulled the bed covers over herself. Tomorrow, she was going to get some answers to all the questions she had. She turned off the lamp beside her bed and settled in. But she was filled with determination. Her new goal was set, she was going to head straight for The Rental Shop in the morning and find out the origin of how she became the new Devin.
