Why can't I say what is on my mind?
The words of the heart I never find.
My thoughts do race but my tongue lies still.
I cannot express the things I feel.

When the words are found that I should say
Inside my mind is the place they stay.
In will, not in want, is my problem found.
Knowing the words but not making them sound.

Bottled up emotions kept inside
Soon affect ones soul like Jekyll and Hyde.
Outward is Jekyll: calm and content.
Inside is Hyde: confusion, torment.

Hyde from Jekyll a potion did purge.
Oh, for one that from within will urge
My inner thoughts to seek a way out,
My true emotions to boldly shout.

The results of which I could not foretell.
Maybe the relief of my own inner hell.
Perhaps the inner turmoil might cease.
Within myself to at last have peace.
