The lights flickered on early in the morning as Janey entered the room. It was a small gymnasium and it was just her by herself, wanting to practice for her up and coming performance.
Already dressed up minus the shoes (she was wearing running shoes from walk a short distance from home), she dropped her gym bag on the floor and put on her ballet slippers.
She started doing warm-up stretches, stretching her legs with her foot against the balance beam in the middle of the room. Janey is quite flexible and agile.
After a series of stretches she is ready, so she gets up onto the balance beam to practice her skill and makes her first attempt to walk across it. She get up onto her toes and then makes her first step, slowly putting her right foot in front of her left foot. Then follows her left foot.
As she eventually maintain her balance, she slowly makes it to the other end of the beam, which she then turns around carefully and makes her way across. She makes it about halfway, then she slips and falls onto the mat underneath.
She is completely fine. So she immediately gets herself back up off the floor and get back onto the beam.
Again she attempts to make her way across and back again which she does. She decides to go again after completing it. She slowly makes it past halfway confidently, then she felt the weight on her feet and lost her balance again.
She slid and fell back on the mat like before, but she landed a bit harder this time.
She takes a few seconds to sit herself back up, she feels fine.
Then she tried to stand up, after which she fell back down.
She noticed there was something not right about her feet. So she took off her ballet shoes and saw through her stockings that her feet appeared to have snapped in half. She didn't feel pain so much as numbness.
She slowly removed her stockings to reveal mangled feet, she tries to take one half and snap it back but it just detached instead.
Somewhat annoyed, though not at all surprised, Janey place the end of her foot down near her bag and snaps off the end of her other foot as well then gets back up.
She regains balance but this time instead of walking along the beam, she just walks on floor floor to the other end of the room to see how she'd do. This would have been awfully inconvenient if she were to injure herself during a performance.
Step-by-step she almost made her way to the other side of the room, then she lost her balance and fell to the floor. She crawled back to her back on her hands and knees.
Sitting by her bag, Janey was looking at her feet, which are now shorter stumps with pretty much the heel left behind. This renders ballet and any other types of dancing useless. So she grabbed the snapped-off parts of her feet and attempt to reattach it.
With her first foot, she kept trying to place it back onto the nub but it wouldn't wouldn't stay. Having tried a few more times and having it fall off each time she got fed up and just slammed the detached half back onto the foot and again and again until she noticed it was sticking.
Squeezing her foot now she noticed it was reattached but not in the shape of a normal foot. She kept rubbing it in until she noticed the half was gone and part of the foot again. It was now a fleshy mass, she continues to rub it still, and the more she rubbed the more pliable and supple it became.
Now doesn't even resemble a foot but she doesn't care, she knows she can make the ultimate ballet feet so she combines the remaining half with her other foot and does the same, leaving her with two clay-like clumps.
She then works her hands on her feet, trying to form a shape that can fit back into the slippers. She squeezes her feet back into the shoes, tie them up and tests the movement before she gets up.
Her feet are more flexible than ever, now she hops back up onto the beam and walks across slowly at first then goes back and forth with ease. Mastering her complex ballet moves. She jumps back onto the floor and dances with ease.
Having her feet reshaped like that is probably considered cheating, but no one will really believe she physically molded them to a specific shape. She felt like weight was lifted off of her.
It was quite bright by the time Janey has finished her rehearsals. She was sitting down and removed her ballet slippers to take another look at them, flapping them up and down on the solid floor which makes a fleshy pitter-patter sound that echoes throughout the room.
She massages her hands around her feet gently before putting back on her normal shoes. When she gets up she tries to walk but nearly collapses to the ground as her feet aren't the right shape for the shoes or to walk.
Wanting to keep the shape, she replaced the shoes back with the ballet shoes and decides she could practice dancing her way back home.
