The swap hit me mid-stride as she walked her fluffy white dog through the park. One blink and suddenly I was in her body, sunk into a soft chair with the dog curled in my lap—while her boyfriend crouched beside me, smiling like he was meeting me for the first time. “Oh wow, what a cute dog!” he said, voice warm, eyes trailing over me a little too long. I tried to steady my breath as I played along, stroking the pup while pretending this was all normal. Every time I answered him, his hand drifted closer—light brushes on my shoulder, his fingers groping me in a way that made my borrowed body shiver.
He leaned in, pretending to focus on the dog but clearly studying me. “Yeah? Of course,” I murmured back in her voice, feeling the surreal weight of her curves rise and fall with every breath. His laugh was soft, teasing, and when he reached to pet the dog again, his knuckles slid against my chest just enough to make me inhale sharply—accidental, but lingering. I couldn’t pull away without breaking the act, so I held still, heat blooming across my skin as he kept asking gentle questions. “What’s his name?” he said.
“Zeus…” I whispered, trying to keep the tremble out of my tone. He chuckled like he found my shyness adorable, his hand brushing against me again under the excuse of ruffling the dog’s fur. “He’s a good boy, huh?” he asked, eyes locked on mine, like he was really talking about me. I nodded, feeling trapped between embarrassment and a strange, thrilling tension. “Yeah… he is.”
His fingers skimmed along my arm, slow and deliberate this time. “He likes attention,” he murmured. I swallowed, heart thudding in this borrowed chest. “Yeah… I bet,” I said softly, still petting the dog while pretending not to notice how close he’d gotten. Every second felt charged, like the two of us were dancing around something we weren’t allowed to acknowledge—but couldn’t ignore either. Playing along wasn’t just mandatory now… it was intoxicating.
