Meet Lyle Davidson, an Earth man who pretty much thinks he's all that except he's a recovering alcoholic who slipped up. It's when he is abducted by Thalyra that he realizes how big the Universe really is. Even though he only inadvertently gave an indication he might be the Champion, he's not sure about it. Thalyra becomes his trainer.
Thalyra is a girl from the Arboc Zone who chose Lyle because of a couple of lines he said in a place she thought would fit with the prophecy. She's an Arboc Forces member who has suffered loss and has a secret of her own yet did she make the right choice? She has questions about it.
But is one of them the prophesied Champion?
