Stuck

Carlie sighed, watching the lame TV show again. It had all happened so fast, but the result of it was clear. While she lay on the uprised bed, she looked to her left. There, on the chair next to her, sat her legs, crossed with her feet twitching.

Sure, they said she was still healthy, that all her vitals checked out, but none of them could explain the fact that she was in two pieces. But she wasn’t the main issue here. Not today. She was just a “casualty.”

It was a few hours ago when it happened. She’d just been another girl in an audience at a magic show. She’d always been interested in it, always fascinated by the impossibilities of things happening. She knew what her favorite was, seeing the equipment a little bit in back.

Sure, the theater was a little old. The theater was trying to get it listed as a historic architecture so they could restore it, but the show kept going on. Still, the magician kept going on, doing these things. Then, about halfway through, before the intermission, he called for the lights up, claiming he needed a volunteer from the audience. She’d have the be a brave girl, unafraid of the unusual.

Carlie raised her hand calmly as others did. The magician came into the audience, looking around, continuing to state that the trick he was calling for help for was dangerous. A few hands went down as the magician reached Carlie’s row, calling for her to stand. A little shocked, she did so. She followed him up on stage, not sure what he’d want to do.

After they did the usual interactions, he pointed to the long table in the back. Carlie’s heart leapt in her throat as she saw it actually was two tables, palced together, end to end. There was no covering, not even any kind of bracket on it, just two tables. He asked her what she thought it might be, so she guessed it was a sawing in half table. When he affirmed it, he asked her to get up on it and lay down face up.

Her heart beat fast as she did so. Was he going to do it? Was he really going to?

It felt so thrilling when he produced the buzzsaw. She was invited to hold her breath as he started it up.

When the saw went through her waist, Carlie had no idea how wonderful it would feel. And it did feel magnificent, better than a thousand chocolate sundaes, better than the greatest scented bubble bath. Even when she orgasmed, she knew how good it was.

And she could still feel everything. Even when he and his regular assistant separated her, getting her on the sides of the stage, Carlie felt that rush of emotion threaten to overwhelm her again.

The magician asked if she’d be okay for a while, to which she smiled, laughing as the crowd applauded. They grew even louder when they saw her bend her leg, clear on the other side of the stage. Even though she was in two, she still felt like she was one piece.

The show went on, Carlie getting a wonderful view of it, seeing all the magic happen, but then the age of the theater showed. With a sudden crack, the trap door in the middle of the stage gave way as the magician was doing some fire tricks. He fell through, and Carlie could still remember the sickening cracks as he hit whatever was underneath. With the fire out of control now, the stage quickly caught.

They got her out of there, but had a hard time getting to the magician.

Which is why they were here, now. The doctors in the ER tried to find some way to stabilize him while, at the same time, trying to figure out how to get her back in one piece. At first, they thought simply placing her halves together again would work, but she ended up sliding off herself. One suggested using some kind of metal plates between her halves, but that didn’t work.

So she was there, in two, while waiting for news of the magician. As she waited, the assistant came out, a little worse for wear. She sat by Carlie and started apologizing. “I am so sorry for all this. I know it must be incredibly challenging for you now.”

Carlie sighed. “Why can’t they get me back together?”

The assitant patted her arm. “It’s not known why, but the magician that does the magic on anyone has to be the one to undo the magic. Until...until he gets better, you’ll be stuck like this. And, believe me, I know how challenging being in halves can be.”

Carlie already knew. She could barely get her bottom half up on its feet without some help to use the restroom and, even then, she had to ask someone to go in and clean her up for it. The whole thing was a mess.

The doctors finally came out, giving the diagnosis. The magician was now in the ICU with third degree burns, head trauma, broken bones. He was in a coma now, and they weren’t certain when he’d wake up. And, when he did, they didn’t know if he’d even remember the magic.

Carlie sat there, listening, a little dejected, at least until the doctor who’d been trying to help her told her they had an idea. They brought out a lower back brace with some straps on it, as well as what appeared to be a set of leg braces, explaining what it was. With a little jury rigging, they told her they could fix those up to her, allowing her two halves to work together like they were still connected.

So, with a little help, Carlie was able to stand. It took some getting used to before she was able to move around with relative ease.

A couple of weeks later, still feeling the wonder and ecstasy of being in two, she had to wonder something, though. If the magician ever made it, she didn’t know if she really wanted to be put back together.
