Being Neighborly
Lisa lay by her swimming pool, relaxing in the evening sun. Sure, the summer days were drawing to a close, so there wouldn’t be much time like this left. After her day of work, she knew she earned it, and had just finished her margarita before she was about to close her eyes.
The golden-locked, 25-year-old looked pretty good in her bikini clad body, at least she thought so. She worked out enough to make it so, and her measurements weren’t too shabby. She…
…she was interrupted by her phone ringing inside. She sighed, not sure who it was, but hoped it wasn’t another scam artist pretending to be something she had no idea about. As she went to the sliding door, she tried to budge it. It wouldn’t open.
She saw the problem. The broomstick she used as a deterrent against anyone trying to come in without her permission fell. “Well, dammit.”
She went around, clad in her towel, to the front, but already knew before she even tried the door or any of the windows. The house was sealed up the way a mid-twenties single girl should seal a house up, but she was outside.
Lisa was about to panic when she saw headlights pulling into her neighbor’s driveway. It was Jim, an older man whose wife recently passed away. She’d met him a few times and he seemed like the nice sort. She snuck through the hedges. “Hey Jim.”
Jim nearly dropped the bags. “Lisa. What are you doing out so late and, in a bikini, no less?”
She sighed and explained what had happened. He smiled. “Come on inside, I’ll call Mike, my brother.”
Lisa didn’t know much about Jim and didn’t even know he had a brother. “What, is he a locksmith?”
Jim shook his head. “Magician, but he does a lot of escapes. If he can get out of it, he can probably get you into it.”
Lisa followed Jim inside as he went to his phone. After a few minutes, he came back, explaining that Caroline, Mike’s wife, would send him over as soon as he got home. Lisa looked around, noticing the décor. Definitely female inspired, so must’ve been Jim’s wife.
Jim gave her a robe and some coffee, then excused himself. “Where are you going?”
It was meant to be a curious question, and he took it as such. “My workshop. I do woodworking by day, but I repair Mike’s magic equipment when I’m not otherwise engaged.”
That was the second time he referred to magic, not illusion. She had to know. “Has he been an illusionist long?”
Jim laughed. “He’s not an illusionist, he uses real magic. Caroline used to be his assistant until she got to be too old, now their daughter, Maggie, is.”
Real magic? Lisa had only read about people who could do real magic. She had to see. “Can I see what you’re working on?”
Jim thought about it a second, then nodded. He led her downstairs to a workshop where she recognized a few of the posters on the wall, all of them describing famous illusionists. Or were they real magicians?
Jim picked up a saw. “Wait, you’re not going to use that on me, are you?”
Jim shook his head. “No, just checking. After a while, the teeth get dull. I just resharpened it, but won’t know if it’s good enough until Maggie comes to check it out.”
Lisa looked at the saw. Somewhere, deep inside her, something was telling her it was going to be okay. She wanted to know. She had to know. “You can saw me in half if you want.”
Jim’s eyebrows couldn’t have gone any higher, but, after the initial shock, he smiled, then cleared off the workbench. “Okay, lay down.”
Lisa slipped off the robe, still not sure what she was doing. I mean, sure, if it had only been an illusion, he wouldn’t have asked her to lay down, would he? But what if it was just a trick? What would happen?
Jim brushed her hair out of the way before he looked at her again. “Are you sure?”
A thousand doubts and questions raced through her head. I mean, it was supposed to be impossible, wasn’t it? But what if it wasn’t? “Sure. Saw me in half.”
Jim explained one thing to Lisa first. “There’ll be a brief flash of pain at first, but it’ll get better.”
Lisa nodded before he addressed her waist with the blade. She could feel the sharpness of the teeth on her skin and just about backed out, but she was more curious than afraid.
He drew the saw towards him, and she felt the pain he’d warned her about. She’d never been stabbed, never even had surgery, but she couldn’t imagine a worse pain. But she knew something, the saw had bitten into her.
He pushed the saw forward, and the pain eased. Curious, she realized she could feel the saw in her right then. It wasn’t far, maybe a half inch, but it was definitely in her. She let go of the breath she didn’t know she was holding as he drew the saw back towards him.
The pain was gone, but something else replaced it as he continued to saw into her. It felt good. That surprised her, but it was true. As he kept sawing into her, the feeling kept getting deeper.
She felt that he was nearly to her backbone, but she was already grinning. As soon as it hit, she felt like she was having an intense orgasm, it was that good. She could hear someone moaning and realized it was her.
All too soon, the saw was through her body and out the other side. Lisa could feel a hundred different things, but, mostly, she could still feel her feet and legs. That surprised her, because she knew they were no longer attached. Experimentally, she kicked a leg and saw it go up.
She started laughing, the good feeling not going away, before he offered to pull her apart. She nodded, and he grabbed her hands and drug her top half away from her bottom half.
Lisa used her arms to sit up on the cut end of her top half, then looked at Jim. “How long can I stay like this?”
Jim had caution in his eyes. ‘Not too long. You’ll have to be reunited soon, in fact.”
Lisa sighed, a little disappointed, but wondered something. She lifted her top half over the cut end of her bottom half and placed the cut ends together. As soon as she was lined up, a wave of intense pleasure washed over her as her two halves reunited.
There was a knock at the door and Jim announced Mike had arrived.
Lisa didn’t know when, but she knew she wanted to be sawn in half again.
