In spite of the title, no, this isn't Mashle fanart. >.> It's just Justine and Fionnuala standing almost back-to-back, because their birthdays are almost back-to-back. (Justine's is April 22nd, Fio's is April 19th. Head Count is full to bursting with Aries and Tauruses for some reason.)

As far as we know, Justine has no natural aptitude for spellcasting. The Conjurer's Pen simply chose her to exert her imaginative will through it, and we still don't understand why, other than the fact that she's good at drawing stuff. (Real life sorta wrote Justine's backstory. She was at one point going to be an experimental new avatar for myself, hence the whole deal with the pen... and why she had three heads in her debut appearance, the extra two of which were later retconned to be clones she summoned with the pen.)

Fio is definitely a product of magic, though, even if she too can't cast spells herself. We're pretty sure that the abilities granted to her by the Eredon fae clan would enable her to eat a car if she felt like it... Don't ask how we came up with that inside joke. I don't even remember. All I know is I'm happy with the slight redesign I just gave her, with the hair trim and the sharper angles on her ears and chin (and maybe one or two other new details you might notice if you look closely).
