It's his character Caleb!<br /><br />Just a bit of artistic commentary on this piece: While I do feel that Caleb's face turned out extremely well (dare I say one of my best faces ever?), the rest looks pretty meh to me. =/ I learned that I don't care much for low-opacity inking after all, and I really do appreciate the crisper look of the plain brush in my own work. The reason I had been reverting to line jiggliness for a moment is because I was more concerned about speed than technique at the time, at that cost me in terms of quality. I'm trying to get back in the habit of remembering to blow up my sketches before I ink them, so I'll be forced to work in finer detail. Believe it or not, the Christmas special I had been decrying as "crap" a couple weeks ago was a return to form. The "crap" (and I still put the word "crap" in quotation marks because they're still pretty darn good compared to similar works from last year) was actually "Polygirl Celebrates 200" and "Dragon Triplets." Now <i>those</i> had some crooked lines. And I learned from drawing Caleb that "paint-inking" can result in some pretty crooked lines, too, if you don't know what you're doing.<br /><br />I do wanna give proper painting a try one of these days, but I'll have to search for tutorials and stuff to learn new techniques.<br /><br />But anywhozle, I did put out the best I could, and the reaction from the audience so far seems to be positive. ^^ Hope you like it, Ian!
