This storm isn't a threat, it's a promise!

Bad pun aside, my art machine needed some love. >.> Before today, I hadn't turned it on since making the final edits to "Wings of Valor." And while we're on the subject of "Wings of Valor," I took quite the lesson away from doing it: If you have a pressure-sensitive tablet, take advantage of its uses! I did the lineart on "Wings of Valor" the "old" way, using several strokes to make a curve, and that's what caused the grainy effect. Needless to say, since y'all have heard me complain about my lineart a lot, I won't be doing that anymore. Starting with this piece, I'm officially sticking with the "new" way.

Anyway, this is ~aleixa's character Velandra, the Genasi Swordmage from my 4E D&D group. As you can see, I went pretty overboard with the lightning this time. ^^; Unlike Shivites, Genasi are actually related to elementals (if I'm not mistaken... I'm not too familiar with the race). Velandra really came through for us last week, slaying an adult Kruthik before it could stick us with too many poisonous projectiles.

Overall, this piece was really fun to work on, with all the glowy and stormy effects, and it didn't take as long as I thought it would. I guess I'm just so used to drawing "mutant" characters with lots of extras that characters with more standard anatomies are coming a lot easier to me now. :D

Velandra is (C) :iconaleixa:
Dungeons & Dragons and the Genasi race are (C) Wizards of the Coast

EDIT 11/19: Quick fix made to address problems pointed by EnigmaticThief.
