Dodge, is that you? o.o What happened...?

Okay, so ~Daitou asked me many many months ago if he wanted to do a collaboration with me. I have no idea why he would want to, since I suck and he doesn't, but I told him I'd come back to him when I had an idea (and time).

Fast forward to July. I had just finished Wanderer and had stuff about Dodge's character development on the brain, so I decided that Dodge would be the star of the collab piece. I give my sketch, which had a more extreme worm's-eye view than what you see here, to Dan for inking. He begins work on it, and the both of us find out that I had drawn parts of Dodge's torso and arms completely off-kilter, so he has to re-sketch pretty much the entire piece. *grumble* Talk about a blow to one's self-esteem as an artist. >_>; To Dan's credit, he did maintain the pose faithfully, and he employed some elements of my style in the re-do. (Notice the large eye, for example.)

As for the inking, Dan asked me if he could turn Dodge's messy, unkempt hair into something resembling lightning, to represent her corrupt, artifice-driven transformation during Wanderer. I, of course, granted him permission, and I like how it turned out. I'm just embarrassed that you can't see all the detail very well because part of her hair is black. ^^;

The background was inspired by a landscape by Philip Straub, the same piece which inspired the locale of Wyrmfell Spire on Arkaden Dividre. I kinda fell in love with the idea of big, ominous claws sticking out of the ground (they weren't that big in Straub's piece) and wanted to use them to add to that sense of danger in the background. I'm not going to say where exactly Dodge is (spoiler alert: it's clearly not a marsh, so it's not Wyrmfell), but since she's a planeswalker, you could probably just use your imagination anyway.

This is the second time in a row I've put Dodge in a place with gray skies. I wonder if she's attracted to thunderstorms now...?

Oh, and before I forget... Please click the download thingy! It's actually much bigger than 900 x whatever! o.o

Thanks for helping me out, Dan. ^^ I think we've made some awesome here.
