The crowd is coocoo for alt-Azzy! Because of the great response I've gotten from everybody on the initial pic of them, I was inspired to do another. There's a story that goes with this one, so pay attention, because you, the reader, will determine how it ends...kinda.
After the incident wherein which Azalea’s head split in two in the middle of the night, the newly formed twins decided to take a shower to calm down. Other than their screams of pain and panic from when they woke up, the two girls had not yet spoken a word to each other. It was after they dried off and rubbed out a circle in the misty mirror to see their new two-headed reflection that the blond-and-green-haired head finally broke the ice.
“So…um…any theories?”
“Hmm?”
“Do you have any theories? On…how this happened to me? …I mean, us? …I mean…grrr…”
“It’s okay. I know what you mean. Sadly, the answer is no. I’m drawing just as many blanks as you are.”
“Figures. We’ve only been two people for about 30 minutes. We probably still think alike.”
“I guess so.”
An awkward silence fell over them, then the blue-haired head carried on.
“This has to be a powerful mutation. There’s no way anyone would be able to grow a head in the span of a few seconds and live to tell about it. At least not without there being a lot more pain involved.”
“What are you talking about? My neck still hurts like hell.”
“Really? Let me see…”
“Ow ow ow ow! Don’t touch it!”
“Sorry…”
The blonde rubbed the pain from her neck and sighed. “Well, I guess now we know for sure I’m not the original.”
“Why? Do you feel like you’re a different person from me?”
“On the inside, no. I’m still Azalea. But my outside says different.”
“Because of your hair?”
“And the pain in my neck, yes. If I have pain and you don’t, that probably means I’m the parasite in this relationship.”
“Don’t say that. If you still feel like me on the inside, then you have just as much ownership over this body as I do. Besides…I think we each control exactly half the body anyway.”
“I think you’re right. I mean, I can still feel your side of the body… Well, sort of… But I can’t control my right arms or leg anymore.”
“Same here, except it’s my left limbs I can’t move. And now that you mention it, I’m starting to feel that pain in your neck. I can kinda feel it in your top shoulder a little.”
“Yeah, the pain’s spreading a bit.”
The blonde head shook in disbelief. “…Wow, this is awkward. It almost feels like I’m actually talking to myself.”
“You are.”
“No, I mean, to myself. As in, not you.”
“No, I know what you mean. I’m just telling you why it does feel like you’re talking to yourself. It’s because you are. You’re talking to someone whose thoughts, feelings…whose very identity are all identical to yours… And if it makes you feel any better, I feel the same way.”
“Maybe I should get a new identity…”
“What?”
“I’m obviously not the original Azalea. I can’t go on using that name.”
“Of course you can. We have the same body, and to some extent, the same mind. It doesn’t matter.”
“We’re two people now, Azzy. We’re not going to have the same mind for much longer. Somewhere along the line, our opinions, our goals, our likes and dislikes, are all going to change, and they’re not going to change the same way. Heck, the very fact that we’re disagreeing on this right now is a sign that it’s happening already.”
“…You might have a point there. Okay, then. If you don’t want to be called Azalea anymore, then what do you want to be called?”
This is where you guys come in. I did originally have a name made for Azalea II, but I didn't like it, so I threw it out. Now I need your help in coming up with a new one! Please leave a comment!
