Almost a year later, I have the FtM companion piece to this:
I have a couple footnotes about this story:
First, the Sarah Millican bit is real, and the men in the audience are just as big of dumbasses as Ashley makes them out to be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkqMjO6QJM0
Second, if you compare the description of the eclipse in the first story to the one in the second story, it's pretty clear that I wrote the first one before I saw the eclipse for myself, and the second afterward. It's *truly* an incomparable experience.
Third, *yes* I know that what Carol's describing about mind transfer is more similar to Scarlet Witch in Multiverse of Madness than it is to the Spider-Verse stuff, but I like the Spider-Verse content more, so I decided Carol and Ashley did too.
Fourth, please do not ask me to translate Man Code Emoji Cryptography, only some of it actually has a translation.
Lastly, the epilogue came from wanting to give Carol a little bit of her own voice and from some speculation on my part. Asher and Ashley’s stories came from people who didn’t expect the eclipse to literally change their world, and I thought about what someone like Carol might do differently because she did. I thought about writing what she’d have read just before meeting Asher, but I decided the letter to the future Carol served to close the story better without demanding its own post.
