The genie was beautiful, and she said I had a wish.
I’d had a bad day.
My father asked when I was going to give him grandchildren.
My husband asked why I wasn’t as fun as I used to be.
My bus driver asked why I don’t smile more.
My boss asked why I don’t “play the game” if I wanted a promotion.
Jeff in accounting asked me to make him coffee. Four times.
So I asked the genie for men to stop harassing me.
And since the genie granted my wish, giving me the body of a man but changing nothing else, no men have asked anything unreasonable of me.
But…
The policewomen who responded to my husband’s call about a strange man breaking into his house asked me to prove who I was.
And the genie asked if I was pleased with the results of my foolishly phrased wish.
