Grasping Ooze

Like many examples of the common ooze and slime families of monsters, the Grasping Ooze prefers to make its lair in dark, underground caves and dungeons, where it can ambush its prey from hiding. It's most notable feature is the thick, sticky slime which it constantly secretes from its skin. It uses this slime to catch prey, trapping them with the thick, sticky substance. Though not intelligent, the Ooze posses a rudimentary animal cunning and has been observed leaving pools of this secretion in shadowy areas or dripping from low
overhangs where unwary denizens may walk. In recent years, those oozes who inhabit dungeons frequented by adventurers have added a new facet to this trap. Having observed how adventurers will be drawn to rescue those in danger, the ooze will keep some adventurers it catches alive in order to draw other adventurers to the Ooze. They have learned that the individuals most likely to draw would-be rescuers are young females and consequently will prioritize capturing as many of them as possible, keeping them affixed to the walls of the lair with sticky bonds of slime, feeding them to keep them alive and "stimulating" the maids with their many, dexterous tendrils to encourage them to make as much noise as possible, drawing fresh parties of adventurers into the ooze's traps. One particularly successful ooze was found with nearly two score young maidens glued to the walls of some forgotten dungeon. Unfortunately for them, the party which eventually managed to slay the beast was a company of dark elf slavers who were delighted with this unexpected windfall of loot...

(Just something quick, I was inspired by some recent animations by :iconsaunterwing: featuring some naughty tentacle beasts. I wanted to try my hand at doing that old fashioned hatch-shading illustrations. Don't know how well it turned out, but I'll let you decide...)
