Katherine lay in bed. The young woman glanced over at the clock, it was nearly a quarter after midnight. She sighed, rolling over in bed. She couldn’t get to sleep. For a few minutes, Katherine tossed and turned, this was and that, trying to find a comfortable position. She rolled over and looked back at the clock; 12:17.
Just then, Katherine heard a noise, coming from somewhere in the house. The young woman sat up, listening intently in the silence for the sound. A moment later, she heard it again. The unmistakable sound of footsteps, moving slowly about.
Katherine’s heart raced. Someone was in the house! The young woman threw off the bedcovers. Underneath it, she had on an oversized t-shirt and a pair of shorts. If this was a story, she should have grabbed a poker from the fireplace, before setting out to confront the intruder. Then again, if it was a story, Katherine would have been living in a stately Victorian mansion by the sea and there would have been a thunderstorm, with perfectly timed peals of thunder and lighten. Katherine settled for grabbed a baseball bat she kept near her bed.
As quietly as she could, Katherine crossed the room and slipped through the door into the hallway. She’d made it all the way to the end of the hallway and around the corner before a black clad figure suddenly stepped out of the shadows and grabbed her. A gloved hand clamped over Katherine’s mouth, cutting off her startled cry.
“Nice bat. We’re you going to use this on me?” The man teased. He reached forward and pulled the bat from Katherine’s hands, dropping it to the ground. “You know the drill, cooperate and you won’t be hurt. Now, put your hands behind your back.”
Trembling, Katherine obeyed. A moment later, she felt her captor start to loop rope around her wrists. He pulled each coil snug against her skin, before tying it off. Katherine twisted her hands, feeling her bonds. There was no give to the rope.
“Please…” Katherine pleaded, as she was spun around to face the masked intruder. “Just take whatever you want. Just don’t hurt me!”
Behind his mask, the man grinned. “But all I want is you.” Before Katherine could say another word, he forced a wadded up cloth into her mouth. A second cloth was tied between her lips as a gag. Katherine moaned into her gag as he turned her around again. Everything went dark as another cloth was pulled across her eyes.
“Come on, let’s go.” The kidnapper said, giving his prisoner a gentle shove forward. Helpless, Katherine stumbled forward. She had no idea where she was going. She was completely dependent on the guiding nudges from her captor.
After a few turns, Katherine suddenly felt cold concrete beneath her feet and she realized she had been taken to the garage. “In you go.” The man said, opening a door and lifting his captive into the vehicle. Katherine felt her feet being tied together with some more cord. He pulled the seat belt down around Katherine. “Safety first.” The man teased.
The door slammed shut. She heard him walk around the car. The driver’s side door opened and he got in. The engine roared into life. A moment later, it pulled out of the garage and drove off into the night. For what seemed like forever, the car started and stopped and turned this way and that. With the blindfold on, she felt every turn, every bump in the road, every bit of acceleration.
Eventually, the car came to a stop. Katherine listened as her kidnapper got out and walked back around to her door. “A true gentleman always opens the door for his lady…” the man said, as he unbuckled Katherine. Picking her up out of the seat, he threw her over one shoulder.
Katherine squirmed as she was carried into a nearby building. A moment later, she was set down on a bed. She felt a hand reach around her head and start to untie her blindfold. She blinked in the sudden brightness as the cloth fell away…
“Well, what did you think?” Katherine’s boyfriend Gary said, grinning. They were in the bedroom of his house. He reached forward and pulled down the cloth of Katherine’s gag and removed the stuffing. She smiled back.
“I loved it! It was very exciting! But I thought you’d show up sooner, what kept you?” she asked.
He shrugged. “I got stuck in traffic. Sorry.”
“Well,” Katherine said, kicking her still tightly bound ankles playfully. “It seems I’m your helpless prisoner for the weekend.”
“That’s right.” Gary said, stuffing the slightly damp wad of cloth back in her mouth. Ignoring her bemused squeal, he tied the gag back on. “And I intend to make the most of it!”
