Part 2:
"You didn't think I wouldn't notice if some nosey girl starts poking around in matters that don't concern her?" Chapman sneered. 'Fortunately, I've taken some precautions." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small silver revolver. "Step away from the computer and raise your hands." Chapman ordered.

He and Griffin stepped into the office and Griffin shut the doors so no one would see whatever happened next. Sarah moved back from the desk and raised her hands above her head. "All right, all right!" She said. "I'll do whatever you tell me, just don't shoot."

Chapman kept Sarah covered with the pistol, not that she had any intention of resisting, while Griffin walked over to the desk and opened a drawer. It proved to contain a long roll of silver duct tape.

"Cross your hands behind your back." Griffin ordered. With a sigh, Sarah complied as he bound her hands with a few turns of tape. Another strip the tape was stuck over her mouth, to keep her quiet.

During all this, Sarah kept hoping that one of the other employees would come in, but, worse luck, none did, as Chapman and Griffin finished securing their helpless captives.

Chapman came over to Griffin and Sarah. "Go see if the hallway is clear." Chapman told Griffin. "I can handle Ms. Little here." He dug the barrel of the pistol into her side to reinforce the point.

Griffin stuck his head out of the door for a second look around, and announced that everything was clear. "Come on, get moving!" Chapman ordered Sarah, giving her a shove to get her moving.

Sarah moaned into her gag as she was led down the hallway. Save for her and her captors, they were empty. Was everyone on their lunch break at the same time? Sarah wondered desperately. Surely there was someone here who would notice her being taken captive?

A few twists and turns later, and Sarah found herself being led down one of the back stairwells. With mounting horror, Sarah suddenly realized they were taking her down to the parking garage beneath the office building. Chapman and Griffin meant to kidnap her!

They had just entered the garage, when they heard the voices of two of the secretaries talking, coming towards them. Before Sarah could do anything, Chapman had dragged her backwards into the shadows in one of the odd corners of the garage.

Management grudging any extra expense had lit the garage as cheaply as possible. The handful of bare light bulbs that illuminated the garage left much of it in dark, near impenetrable shadow.

From her position, Sarah could see the two women walk past, neatly illuminated in an island of light beneath one of the working lights. In the shadows, however, Sarah and her captors would be all but invisible.

Sarah desperately wanted to call out to them, but Chapman had clamped a hand over her already gagged mouth and pressed his gun painfully into her side. "Not a sound, Ms. Little, or you're dead right here right now." He whispered threateningly into her ear.

Sarah had no choice but to watch helplessly as her best hope for escape walked past, chatting about the latest office gossip. If the two young women had any clue that, not more than a yard away, one of their coworkers was the helpless, bound and gagged captive of her own boss, they gave no sign Sarah could see.

When they were gone, Chapman once again gave Sarah a rough shove to get her moving. One short walk later and they'd come to Chapman's car. Chapman took out his keys and opened the trunk.

Chapman turned to Griffin. "Go back up and clean up things here. Clear out Miss Little's desk, go through any of her files for evidence she might have found and destroy it. Find her keys and take care of her car, the usual way." He took the roll of tape from Chapman. "I'll take care of Miss Little myself."

Chapman turned back to Sarah and picked her up. He dropped her down in the open trunk of the car. Sarah squirmed as best she could, but was helpless as he took the tape and secured her ankles the same way they'd bound her wrists.
A last piece of tape went over Sarah's eyes, blinding her to the world. Chapman pushed Sarah's head down into the trunk and a second later, she heard it slam shut above her. A tense minute or two later and she felt the car begin to vibrate around her as Chapman started the car and pulled out of the parking garage.

The car ride seemed to last for an eternity. At first, Sarah busied herself trying to get free, but soon had to give it up as hopeless. The tape was stuck tight to her jacket and panty hose. Bound as she was, she couldn't get enough leverage to tear it.

It certainly didn't help that she was being tossed around every minute or two as Chapman took one turn after another. After an eternity, Chapman stopped turning and drove straight. Sarah was both pleased and horrified by this. On the one hand, she was no longer being thrown up against the walls of her prison. On the other hand, it could only mean that Chapman had left the city and was on the highway. Depending on how much gas he had, he could be taking her anywhere. She knew, the further away they drove, the less chance anyone would ever find her.

With nothing else to do, Sarah turned her mind back to what she already knew. The slightest bit of information could mean the difference between living through this nightmare in one piece or a shallow grave out in the desert somewhere.

Chapman was running a secret smuggling ring through the legitimate shipping operations and hiding the evidence in the paperwork. They had a boat and a crew, which meant that the trade was international.

With the kind of money this was bringing in, whatever he was shipping had to be highly lucrative. It was also highly illegal. Sarah's current predicament was proof enough of that. The penalties for getting caught shipping whatever it was were stiffer then kidnapping his assistant. (Sarah didn't want to contemplate Chapman murdering her, however likely that outcome seemed at the moment.)

The only thing that Sarah could think of that would fit that scenario would be drugs. But if that was the case, why did all the memo's she'd found make it sound like they were exporting, not importing. Weren't drug smugglers supposed to try and smuggle drugs into the country, not out of it? It didn't make any sense.

Before Sarah could ponder this for more than a couple minutes, she suddenly felt the car coast to a stop. A second later, she heard the trunk open and Chapman say: "We're here…"
