In what should probably be a journal, I'm doing this. Because I find myself eulogizing yet again and this felt more appropriate (and I can turn off comments because I don't really want to talk about this as this is not something I deal with very well after, well... if you know me, the past several years has been loss after loss)

I'm aware this is a link chain and I'm sorry for that. But this one is from someone I know very well and I'm more comfortable linking to it.

I'm also aware it's been quite some time since I have been here or said or posted anything (and that I said I wouldn't be talking again but this is important).

Another link:

Part of a series of collaborations with this person. A friend, one I didn't talk to often enough. I did at least get to know him outside of here but, didn't speak often enough.

I speak of a bard, but not just the character he took his username from. I speak of the writer. Of the person.

I sometimes felt envious of his skill but he'd just tell me something good about me in return so I tried to keep that in mind to alleviate the feeling. I do wonder what he'd think or feel if he saw that I'd returned, if only briefly, to talk about him.

Lathiira was just a positive light. Both character and writer. A true bard, both of them. Weaving songs and stories, and words of kindness, for anyone who needed them. There were times of trouble, as always, but both would so often shine through it and, very often, pull others through their own.

I haven't been keeping up on things as well as I should have. Nor speaking to a friend like him often enough. But even still, the thought that now we go on and the words of this bard will be sung no more is a dark thought. It was already a dark world. And now we've lost one of the few beacons of light that managed to shine through. It's already darker now.

His songs and tales, however, do remain. What he has left behind will continue to be what remains of his light. So the world is darker but, even still, he leaves us with some light.

I did usually end things like this with a song, right? Well, as I said, the bard's song will remain:
