Time stood still, The way it did before, It's like I'm sleepwalking! Fell into another hole, I got... It's like I'm sleepwalking!
Our biggest kept secrets, are often those we hold dearest. Our past problems often spell complacency for our future. Our biggest errors, are often accomplishments for others. This feat became all to apparent with the imagery cast out by one, Pete Dunne. A man who was well documented with his friendship, and partnership with former WWEx talent, Trent Seven, Pete did the unthinkable. Sending an entire divide through the mainstream platform, and social media world wide with his slaying of the Trent Seven army. In the process stabbing a dagger into the chest of his fallen comrade, no longer was the brotherly bond between Trent Seven, and Pete Dunne lively. Severed was years of friendship, and some would say -- Apprenticeship. All of this in a pursuit to make his own name an even bigger one. All for the chance to finally live in infamy. A chance to create his own legacy. To etch and carve a name that will not only be remembered years for now, but one of which will be remembered for centuries. Unfortunately with this upcoming episode of Genesis, stood a man with his own personal success. A man who just like Dunne, took on a man some may even say was closer to him than Trent to Pete, that being Edge. The results are like an open book by now, as we all know what happened between Christian, and Edge. Must like we know about Dunne, and Seven. All stories must have a beginning. For Christian, it was through Edge. And how symbolic it seems this story begins with Pete, through Seven.
PETE DUNNE: How thickle we 'ave become. How pitiful it is that we must justify our words wit' our actions.
Click! Those opening words pan into the image of Pete Dunne, who no surprise is all by his lonesome. The scene looked like something out of Shawshank Redemption, or any of those other cliche movies with jail cells. Either or, you get the reference. There seemed to be a reason for why Pete was locked up. But there wasn't a definite answer to that, or at least not as of now. A shallow question left unanswered as Pete slowly looks out of the cell, with little of anything to say. Instead his vulgar look sent nerve tearing shocks through the very foundation of our scene as a whole. His piercing glare could cut through steel. Dunne was never a man of many words, but was well depicted world wide with his mannerisms. The short spoken native from Birmingham, England shifted his gaze into the scene. Giving us a short little rebuttal of his own.
PETE DUNNE: All I'm 'earin' is why, Pete? Why? Why take out a man who was like a father to 'ya? Why take out a man who gave 'ya life in this business? A man who helped 'ya become tha' wrestla' you are. Why, Pete? Why? To be honest? I don't know.
A soft pause comes across the face of Dunne who seemed at least seemed remorseful for his destruction of his former friend, and ally, Trent Seven. Suddenly that tone became an afterthought as we see that devil like grin of his slide across his face. Even an uncharacteristic chuckle would slide out of Dunne as he ran his hand across the fictional cell.
PETE DUNNE: Personally, Trent. 'Ya were a causality of war. It was nothin' personal, lad. It was jus' business. 'Ya always wanted to be the best. And for a brief time, I admired that spirit. In some way, I still do. But did 'ya the see look on your miserable face when I took your jaw off, or perhaps when I ended your career before it ever got started. You always believed in me, but deep down? You never wanted to see me succeed. So I had to take you out. In tha' process, I made my name somethin' to remember. You'll never forget it. Which brings me tha' unfortunate man who seemingly has tha' whole world behind 'em. A man who in retrospect shouldn't even be here. But business is business as usual. Which is where you come into tha' picture, Christian.
A rather disgusted tone comes across the face of Dunne as he scoffs. He seemed rather disinterested with the talented roster member. A man who set his foot inside this business, long before Dunne had even graduated, let alone set foot inside a wrestling ring. The experience Christian had was volumes above Dunne, who was well aware of this. But Pete had his own knowledge in and out of the ring. If anybody could contain Captain Charisma, it was Pete Dunne.
PETE DUNNE: I suppose you're sittin' pretty comfortable right now. Especially wit' tha' wanka' 'ya got by your side. So faithful in your every move. It's sickenin' knowin' tha' when we meet in the middle of this ring, I not only have to worry 'bout you, but I have to watch Tomko, too.
A slight look of disgust creeps across his face once more as he slowly shakes his head. Yet again we see a look of disinterest.
PETE DUNNE: In a way though, I digress. It's not you, Christian that I"m worried about. As a matter o'fact, I'm not quite worried about that dog in your back pocket, either. I assure 'ya, I'll have no problem bustin' tha' both of 'ya in tha' mouth. You're so conceded tha' deep down, I can see you actually thinking you have a chance at beatin' me. And tha' more I begin to think 'bout it, tha' more I can't help but smile. Not because you're funny like you think you are. Far from it. I'm smilin' 'cause I know there isn't damn thing you can to do stop me from makin' an example of the leftovers of your career.
A glaring scowl escapes from the mouth of Dunne who slowly shifts his gaze to the cell once more. Dunne slowly steps in the direction of said cell, as he clutches the cold steel with his hand. A soft sigh escapes his mouth as another evil grin slides across his face.
PETE DUNNE: It's funny, Christian. This cell represents where I was before last week. Caged behind the unity of others. I often had this goal of bein' the best professional wrestla' in tha' entire world. Nobody was ever goin' to tell me different. For you, Christian -- You had to work for everything you ever earned. Which I do respect, because you, such as myself have made career of provin' people wrong. But just because you and I have a common narrative between us, does not make us alike. We are cut from a much different cloth, my friend. One that come Genesis will be exposed for tha' entire world to see.
Pete would reach into his pocket, revealing a key. A slight glare comes from Dunne as he looks at the camera. He would reach his hand through the cell, before unlocking the door. Dunne would slowly open the door as he looked downward at a hallway. He lets a slight disgust filled sigh escape him as he passes through the cell. Dunne would then toss the key to the side. He motions his head for the side, making a clear nod for the production team to follow him. The imagery peers to the long hallway. Dunne would take a small step as the lights would illuminate the first section of the hallway.
PETE DUNNE: Now this, Christian? This represents the light at the end of tha' road. Greener pastures for you, and I. Mind you, I stand here as a man wit' everything to prove. Where as you, Christian? The world already knows you're about. I unlike your former brother will get tha' job done. You don't get it, Christian -- This isn't just another match. Your not goin' to get one over on me. I'm goin' to take every little thing that you love, that you admire, that you long for in this world, and I'm going to make it mine. It's going to be all mine. Everything you cherish will soon cease to exist. This is simply tha' end of tha road for 'ya. But how embarassin' is it lad, knowin' in just a few short days; I hold everything you care 'bout in tha' palm of my hand, and then? In tha' blink of an eye. It'll all be gone.
A sudden snap of the fingers would cause the entire hallway to illuminate, in the process lighting up the entire jail. Dunne would run his hand through his thick locks as his gaze is fixated at the end of the hall. The camera would follow his every movement as he slowly made his way down the hall. Throughout the hall was several images of Dunne, and Trent Seven. All with slashes, or tears among the portions that represented Dunne. As Dunne would conclude his path down the hallway, we see him unexpectedly kneel, mere inches from a tiny lockbox. Pete would then resume as he closes both of his eyes.
PETE DUNNE: This is it, Christian. Every little thing beats on this very moment. 'Ya had a career, and I get the honor of bein' the one to destroy it. But I assure 'ya, Christian; I'll make this as quick, and easy. Not for you, Christian. But your little girl.
Wait, what does Dunne mean by that? His unsettling glare radiates with an even scarier smirk. His eyes would slowly open as he reaches towards the lockbox. He slowly pulls upon the lock portion of the box, easily popping the box open. He slowly reaches into the box, pulling out a tiny locket. Dunne would open it slowly revealing the image of Christian, and his daughter. A soft sigh escapes Dunne as he ends strongly.
PETE DUNNE: It's not personal, Christian. It's jus' business.
Those were the final words from Dunne as he clinches his fist over the locket, closing it tightly. In the process ending his promo with the very same words he left for his former ally, Trent Seven. This had the recipes for an instant classic, no pun intended. Christian was one of the hottest acts going inside WWEx, where as Pete Dunne made a great impression last week. Both men will surely want to best the other. But in the end, only one man can prevail. The question is a simple one. Will Pete Dunne follow through with his promise, or would Captain Charisma thwart Dunne. Proving his attack on Trent Seven was his own highlight, making him nothing more than a flash in the pan? All this and more will be answered on an action packed episode of Genesis. You don't want to miss it!
