It’s nothing personal, it’s just business.
That was something his father had taught him, a lesson that had stuck with him….
He knew little about Woody Taylor and Liv Morgan. To be honest he did not get involved in anything that did not concern him or his tag team partner. You see at heart he is a simple man who only cares about one thing and only one thing - American Alpha. That to him is the only thing that matters, that to him is the only thing worth giving a damn about. American Alpha is the start and the end of his problems, whatever Woody Taylor and Liv Morgan have done that American Alpha have been pulled into this match - he did not care. He was a man who competed at the end of the day and this like everything else was just another match to him. No matter what Woody Taylor and Liv Morgan have done to have been placed in such a contest - the only thing that mattered to him was that he did all he could do to ensure that his team won the contest.
“God, good luck to them.”
He commented as he looked down at his hands. He held the sheet of paper in his hands, the match had been announced and they had been informed, but he thought honestly it was nothing more than a joke, even a prank, but seeing it in his hands - reading it right before his very eyes made it all to real. This was real, this match was happening and those poor souls where walking out to there doom, to defeat - to the slaughterhouse.
“Woody Taylor and Liv Morgan, I pity them Chad - I really do pity them. What kind of chance do they have not just against us - but by the pure amount of numbers they are going up against tonight - they are good make no mistake about it - but they are not that good where they can take down over twenty superstars and stand tall in the ring, such a thing is not even possible.”
American Alpha - there tag team, this brotherhood they had with one another, it has been hit and it has been hit hard. Defeats - god the defeats have been mounting up for them. They have fallen so many times that each time they hit the ground it is getting harder and harder for them to get back up. But here they are, they are still standing, even after all the hell they have been through they are here, they are dressed and they are ready for whatever Woody Taylor and Liv Morgan have to offer.
“Things have been bad for us, hell I am going to go and say it - they have been down right rotten, but Chad - we have to stick together. My father always said this, that you cannot win them all. That defeat is part of life. That defeat is not the worse thing in the world and that in truth, defeat can be a good thing, because in defeat we learn from our lessons. We can grow from our failings, we can become better and Chad - we have been losing now, quite a lot and we have learnt from those failings and we have learnt never to underestimate anyone, that’s why Woody Taylor and Liv Morgan - we got to go in there with the thought, however small it may be, that there is a chance they can defeat us.”
The odds were against them. What chance did they have? They were not only facing American Alpha - even if it was only them, they would not have a chance in hell of beating them but with that there was over twenty of them. Two against twenty it was just not going to happen. Jason knew it and so did Chad, but still they have learnt the hard way what happens when arrogance grips your heart and clouds your mind. They have been beaten too many times as of late, falling to people they should by all rights be able to beat and now tonight it ends when they get back on track.
“Me and you, we can do the impossible. As good as Woody Taylor and Liv Morgan are - we are just that much better than them. I don’t care about anyone else who stands at our side. I don’t care who are partners are, I don’t know their faces nor the names - they are not worth my time - the only thing I care about is beating Woody Taylor and Liv Morgan. What they did - who cares. They are our opponents and because of that we have to treat them how we treat everyone else who steps up to face us. We have to go out there and we have to take them down, no matter what. I am not even going to tag anyone else in other than you. American Alpha has got this, we have always got this. Woody Taylor and Liv Morgan will not even know what hits them. They have pissed someone off to have us put in against them, let’s show the world Chad - that we still have it. That these defeats have made us better, faster and stronger. That we are willing and we are able to get the job done.”
He would reach out to his partner, to his brother as he takes his hand in his own and shakes it. They have been through so much since they came back to the WWE. It has without a doubt been an up and down adventure for them, but now they were going to get back on track. Woody Taylor and Liv Morgan had to fall in order for them to rise up, that was the order of things, that was how this had to work. American Alpha only cared about one thing - themselves. Woody Taylor and Liv Morgan, have a fight on their hands as American Alpha where coming for them, they were coming for victory and god help anyone who steps in there way and tries to stop them.
------------------
Unity. A term used rarely in the wrestling world. A term in retrospect, not many followed suit with. This however was not the case for Chad Gable, and his partner; Jason Jordan. This duo knew all to well the implications of unity. They knew exactly what it represented to co-exist, and most importantly -- They knew what it took to work together. This is why it came as a slight shock when they were announced as two crucial members in a group of twenty-three others to combat the talented duo of Woody Taylor, and Liv Morgan. Luckily for the WWE Universe, an exclusive video package was able to capture the exact thoughts of American Alpha.
CHAD GABLE
I don't get it, Jason. I just don't.
A soft perplexed look came across the face of the larger half of American Alpha as he graces Chad with a small smile.
JASON JORDAN
Are you still letting that loss affect you? Come on, Chad! We need to persevere. After all, I think this week should be an easy rebound for us. After all, we got twenty-one other people on our side! Come on, give me a five!
A slightly sympathetic glare escapes from Chad as he gives into the five thrown forward by his friendly foe. Jason seemed slightly excited by this, but Chad slowly acknowledges the excitement from Jordan with his own rebuttal.
CHAD GABLE
Alright look, Jason. I get you're excited. You've never been one to shy away from that. But we lost last week. We had a chance to cement ourselves with the Money in the bank briefcase, and we lost. So, am I a little upset? Of course, I am.
Perhaps showing his true demeanor, a sigh escapes from Chad as he shrugs his shoulders. The confident, Jason however pats the shoulder of Gable as he looks directly at him.
JASON JORDAN
Oh come on, Chad! You can't let that beat you up. Where's that integrity of yours? Snap out of it. We need you, Monday. I get we've got the numbers game, but you should know more than anyone that numbers aren't everything.
Shockingly -- The often confident, and outspoken member of American Alpha had a solid point. One of which took Gable aloof as a soft chuckle escapes from Gable.
CHAD GABLE
Alright, Jason. You got me.
Gable allows a soft smirk to slide across his face as he retorts Jordan, with even more speech.
CHAD GABLE
I know we've got this numbers game going for us, but Woody Taylor is someone we need to keep a close eye upon. He's not someone we can underestimate. Last week, we underestimated The New Day, and we saw how that turned out for us. I think it's safe to say that you and I are both on the same page here. We both know exactly what we have to do in order to secure the victory, but truth be told? There are twenty-one other people who could just as easily cost us this victory.
This was another valid point brought forth by Gable as he swiftly places both hands together, awaiting even more justification from his partner.
JASON JORDAN
You're not wrong, Chad. In fact, I can see why you're the brains behind the team. I'll admit, the thought crossed my mind, but you're actually the one who can see this happening. Do you not trust our partners?
A soft sigh would escape from Gable as he slowly shook his head from side to side. Making it known that he didn't have much faith in this alliance of unlikely proportions.
CHAD GABLE
Trust is a hard thing to find in this business. You're one of the only people I've met in this business who had good intentions for me. I get we may not have always seen things eye to eye, but you have to realize that with the likes of Adam Cole, Sheamus, Dean Ambrose, and countless others on our side -- At least one of them is going to look out for themselves. It's an easy victory in the grand scheme of things, but I wouldn't count my eggs before they hatch.
The two men stand in unison as they both nod their heads in agreement. A soft sigh escapes from Gable as he lowers his head, almost realizing that this numbers game was a curse, rather than an opposition. As expected, Jason was there for the moral support.
JASON JORDAN
First off, Chad -- Who even says that? Secondly, let's look at what we've got going for us. Everything is going good for us. If we don't trust our teammates, then we're not going to get anywhere. We're going to fail once again. That's not what I want, and I know deep down that isn't what Chad Gable wants!
Gable reflected his gaze at his good friend, and more importantly, his partner. A soft smile creeps across the face of Gable as he shocks his partner with a soft hug. Jordan seems almost confused by this as his face told the story. In a tale of recent defeat, it seemed this duo was poised and ready as ever to turn tragedy into triumph.
CHAD GABLE
That's not what I want, Jason. In fact, I don't know exactly what I want anymore. As long as we have each other, and we strive to be the best team in WWE history, then I don't think there's a member of the WWE roster who could stop us from achieving our goals. From the moment we got drafted to Monday Night Raw, we had a purpose. We we're ready to prove people wrong. At times, we did just that. And others? We failed.
This was perhaps the hardest pill to swallow for both men, but it was the unfortunate truth. The duo had some great success on their horizon, but they also had some crushing defeats. Gable shakes his head slowly as he reflects.
CHAD GABLE
But even with everything that's gone on for American Alpha as of late?
Gable swallowed his pride once more as he stretched his hand out for his partner, showing a huge smile. The one symbolic with Gable in general. This small detail was all that Jason needed before he retorted with a smile of his own. The two would exchange fist bumps before nodding their head together like the true cohesive unit they were. Gable would then end the scene on a symbolic note.
CHAD GABLE
Unity is everything. American Alpha is forever. Together, we are ready! We are willing! We are Gable! But now more so than ever? We prove the WORLD wrong!
A cackle of excitement escapes the mouth of Jason who doesn't say a single word, but instead shows his approval with several claps. Gable pats the shoulder of his counterpart, which is swiftly returned by Jordan. Our scene ends with Gable reaching into his back pocket, removing the signature towel he would throw freely in support for their team, before placing it behind both himself, and Jason. The scene ends strongly with our camera zooming in closely to that of the towel which represented American Alpha so strongly. Our scene slowly fades to black. Leaving a tale of defeat, into one of possible resurgence. This was the new beginning of American Alpha. Two men with nothing to lose, but everything to gain.
